One of the most challenging aspects of complete denture therapy is patients with atrophic residual alveolar ridges. The neutral zone technique is considered to be an important approach to those patients complaining of unstable dentures. In clinical cases with optimal bone availability, physiologically optimal denture contours and physiologically appropriate denture tooth arrangement should be achieved to maximize prosthesis stability, comfort, and function for patients. The aim of this technique is to arrange the denture teeth in harmony with the adjacent soft and hard tissue. This case report describes the simplest form of recording neutral zone in severely resorbed mandibular ridge.

Background: Oral health is considered as an vital component of various dimensions of general health well being. The magnitude of caries varies from region to region with respect to geographical distribution. The reasons may be due factors like age, sex, dietary pattern, socioeconomic conditions.

Objectives: To estimate the impact of Socioeconomic status and other social factors on the prevalence of carries.

Materials And Methods: A hospital based cross-sectional study was carried out in Kurnool population between June 2016 and May 2017. Study participants were patients attending the outpatient department of Dental ospital, Kurnool. A total of 400 patients attending the outpatient department were recruited for the study. 

Results: With respect to association between socioeconomic status and caries 84.2% of those belonging to lower SES had caries when compared to middle SES (10.8%) and higher SES (4.9%). This difference was found to be statistically significant. Prevalence of caries was high in those who were alcohol users (72.6%) when compared to non alcohol users (56.6%). 83.7% of tobacco users were having caries when compared to 33.8% among non tobacco users.

Conclusion: From our study it can be concluded that the association between socioeconomic status and caries cannot be denied. Implementation of oral health programmes with multipronged strategy to address various socioeconomic factors in addition to effective counseling for those who have behaviours like tobacco and alcohol use can act as effective tool in bringing down the burden of caries problem among population of developing countries.

Aims and Objectives: The present study aims at evaluation of age, sex and site of occurrence related revalence of Radicular cyst, Dentigerous cyst, Odontogenic keratocyst (OKC), Lateral Periodontal cyst, Residual cyst, Adult Gingival cyst, Calcifying odontogenic cysts.

Materials and Methods: During 8 year period (From 2010 to 2017), 1000 patients with cystic lesions of the jaws were analysed. All patients underwent clinical examination and plain film radiography (panoramic, periapical, and occlusal views). Some of them were referred for CBCT or computed tomography (CT) with a multiplanar reconstruction program (MPR). Age, sex, type of cyst and location were recorded in designed performa. The treatment modalities used for the management of cysts are marsupialisation, enucleation with bone grafting or resection under local or general anaesthesia depending on the case.

Results: The odontogenic cysts occurs more commonly in male inmandibular anterior region and maxillary posterior region than female. However, mandibular posterior region and maxillary anterior region have more predilection for females than males. The calcifying odontogenic cyst, residual cysts and odontogenic keratocyst are more common in male than female. The adult gingival cyst, lateral periodontal cyst, radicular cyst and dentigerous cyst are more common in female than male. Maxillary anterior region and mandibular posterior regions is most predilected site in 18-35 years age group. The 51-60 years of age groupin mandibular anterior region and maxillary posterior region in 36 to 50 years is most predilected site of occurrence for odontogenic cysts Calcifying epithelial odontogenic cyst (7.9%) is most common in 18 to 35 years of age group. Adult Gingival Cyst is most common in 36 to 50 years of age group. Residual cyst (51.3%) is most common in 51 to 60 years of age group.Lateral periodontal cyst (48.7%) most common in 51 to 60 years of age group. The odontogenic keratocyst (26.9%) is most common in 36 to 50 years. Dentigerous cyst (97.0%) is more common in below 18 years of age group. Radicular cyst (52.5%) is more common with18 to 35 years.

Background: It is common to note dental surgeons discontinue oral anticoagulants or antiplatelet drugs for the purpose of dental surgical procedures having the fear of excessive bleeding. Multiple review of literatures and studies have proven no risk of bleeding complications in such patients. Purpose of our study was to evaluate amount of bleeding in patients under oral anticoagulant or antiplatelet therapy when compared to healthy controls who are undergoing variety of oral surgical procedures.

Materials and methods: Patients taking oral anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs who’s INR (International Normalized Ratio) less than 3.0 are divided in two groups of less than 20 minutes procedures and less than 40 minutes procedures with healthy controls in same manner. Sterile weighed gauze packs of 20gms and 40gms were used respectively in these groups and weighed postoperatively for weight difference.

Results: No statistical difference in bleeding noted in patients under medication to healthy controls in both the groups.

Conclusion: Interruptions in oral anticoagulants or antiplatelet drugs must be avoided when patients INR withing therapeutic range to avoid embolic consequences.

Background: Thorough irrigation of the root canal is necessary to disinfect microorganisms, removing smear layer portions (both organic and inorganic) of the root canal system and to flush out debris. there is no single ideal irrigation solution till date which can perform all the desired functions.Objectives: To study the pattern of irrigation practices during endodontic procedures among dental practitioners in Kurnool urban area, Andhra Pradesh. Materials and Methods: A hospital based cross sectional study was conducted for a period of six months from June 2016 to December 2016. 168 dental clinics consulted to participate in the study. Results: All the 168 practitioners were using saline as primary irrigant. Other irrgants used along with saline were NaOCl 78.6%, EDTA 56%, and Chlorhexidine28.76%. Only 7.1% were using sterile water along with saline as irrigating solution. The response to primary irrigant used majority 48.2% ( 81) were using saline followed by 46.4% (78) sodium hypochlorite. 52.9% (89) of the respondents were using sodium hypochlorite in the concentration of 2.6% to 4%. Similar proportion using chlorhexidine in the concentration of 2%.

Conclusion: This study concludes that most of the practitioners were using normal saline as primary irrigant and 26 gauge needle was the most preferred for irrigation. It clearly depicts that there is a need for updating of the knowledge among practitioners with regard to selection of primary irrigants so that the quality of endodontic care can be improved.
