 This case describes the treatment of a 24 yrs old male patient who lost multiple teeth and had a fracture of maxillary and mandibular jaw due to trauma. As the patient was having deepbite and serious occlusal instability the teeth could not be replaced by a conventional fixed prosthesis nor  implants could be placed because of  insufficient bone width. The vertical dimension was increased using bite plane over a period of 6 months and then anterior teeth were extracted followed by alveolectomy and alveloplasty for gaining space. Once the healing was completed the mandibular over denture and maxillary fixed prosthesis was inserted in patient mouth.

 Ameloblastoma is a slow-growing, persistent, and locally aggressive  neoplasm arising from the odontogenic epithelium. Only 10 percent of ameloblastomas occur in the anterior mandible. We present a case of an anterior mandibular ameloblastoma that was previously histpathologically diagnosed as a dentigerous cyst. Patient underwent wide surgical excision of the tumor followed by immediate reconstruction using non vascularized autogenous graft from the anterior ileum, stabilized with titanium reconstructive plates. A brief case report and review of literature is presented.

 Tonsillolith is a rare dystrophic calcification which results due to chronic inflammation of the tonsils.Although they may be asymptomatic, some may cause halitosis, cough, dysphagia, and foreign body sensation, as well as otalgia. These tonsilloliths can be detected on panoramic radiographs as radiopaque lesions, and can mimick the radiographic picture of many other pathologies. Hence, a dentist should be familiar with radiographic characteristics of this type of calcification.

 Primary oral malignant melanoma is a rare neoplasm of oral cavity accounting for 0.5% of all oral malignancies. The etiology of malignant melanoma is unknown however tobacco use and chronic irritation have some role. Clinically oral malignant melanoma can camouflage the other pigmented lesions of oral cavity. We are presenting 3 typical cases of oral malignant melanoma with an insight in literature.

This paper reviews the discrepancy that exists in accessibility and usage of social media and its interconnected applications and the numerous benefits these applications can be put to use and points out to the intrinsic challenges in the way of efficient communication.

 After the innovations of aviation at the beginning of the 20th century, many in-flight pathologic and physiologic conditions were observed due to changes in atmospheric pressure which caused discomfort and damage to the oral cavity and maxillofacial areas.

 Pregnancy is a special event which occurs in a woman’s life, alongwith a variety of physical, anatomical and hormonal changes which can affect oral health care. The maintenance of good oral health during this period is essential to the overall health of the pregnant woman and her baby. In such case the assessment of oral examination should be considered as part of prenatal care for every women. This can only be possible if the general medical practitioner and gynaecologist refer such cases to dental surgeon for routine dental check-up. These patients should not be considered as medically compromised and should be given proper dental care. This paper is designed to review that dental care during pregnancy is advisable, general dental procedures and treatment provided are explained during pregnancy and  the role of maintaining good oral hygeine and ways to do so. 

 Research in any field is very important so that we can deliver the latest information. In the dental specialty research helps in shedding more light on more modern, conservative and treatment that is more acceptable. But research is only a first step in this direction. With so much of research going across the globe, the validity of research is a question, with regard to so many factors, that include whether the research personnel have stuck to the protocol while doing the research, the sample size, etc. hence systematic review of various articles helps un in understanding research of one particular topic in a more detailed way with short time. Meta analysis of systematic review gives it a statistical benefit and evidence based practice delivers what the patient expects from the doctor and the treatment is based on doctor’s experience also.

 Various human gene products produced by genetically engineered microorganisms such as insulin, growth hormone, interferons and regulatory peptides are being used therapeutically in humans. Nowadays neuroparalytic toxin of Clostridium botulinum has become an unlikely addition to the range of therapeutic microbial products. Botulinum toxin (BT) has been shown to be useful for the treatment of many clinical conditions. It is a combination of proteins one of which is a botulinum neurotoxin and rest is auxiliary proteins like hemagglutinins (HA) and a nontoxin, nonhemagglutinin (NTNH). When BT is injected into a target tissue, the heavy chain of the botulinum neurotoxin selectively binds to glycoprotein structures specifically found on cholinergic nerve terminals. In cytosol, the light chain binds with high specificity to the SNARE protein complex. The toxin is injected through a monopolar hollow-bore, teflon coated electromyographic needle connected to an EMG amplifier. Purpose of this article is to present an overview of Botulinum toxin(BT) and its clinical implications in craniofacial region.

 Background: Maxillary midline diastema is one of the common esthetic problems appearing in deciduous dentition and affecting adults irrespective of gender and ethnicity. This study aimed to determining the prevalence, etiological factors and acceptance of midline diastema among a sample of Sudanese university students in Khartoum city. Materials and Methods: A cross sectional descriptive study carried out for 2200    (1706 females,  494 males) Sudanese university students 18-23 years old.  A radiograph taken for each student diagnosed with midline diastema to prohibit the etiological factors.  Results: The prevalence of midline diastema was recorded  7.3% (7% maxillary, 0.2% mandibular and 0.1% both maxillary and mandibular).  It occurs more frequently in females (8%) than male (4.7%). Majority of students 112(70%) have family history of midline diastema (70.1% female and 69.6% male). Fifty six percent of the students were not considering midline diastema as an esthetic problem (52.6% female and 78.3% male). Only 10.6% from the students with midline diastema had speech problem (11.7% female and 4.3% male). Conclusion: The prevalence of midline diastema in this sample is evident and analogous to the conclusion reported in previous studies among different populations. The result gives evidence regarding the enormity of the midline diastema. However, burly conclusion not strained since the studied sample is not envoy to the entire Sudanese population. Additional study is obligatory with a great sample collected from different areas in Sudan.

 Aim and Objective: To assess the correlation between lip prints and ABO blood group in students of I.T.S Dental College, Greater Noida. Material and Method: 110 subjects (55 males and 55 females), aged between         17-25 years were included in the study. Result: The results of the present study shows the significant correlation between lip print and blood group. The predominant blood group found in the present study group was O+ and the partial type was predominant lip print. Conclusion: Lip prints have certain limitations like the same person can produce different lip prints, according to the pressure, direction and method used in taking the print and Smudging of lip prints, but its features like stability and uniqueness enable it to use as evidence in court of law. The gender and geographical origin can be determined with the lip prints.

 Aims: The objective of this study is to evaluate the accuracy of a video imaging program ( Dolphin 11.0 ) in predicting skeletal outcomes in patients with skeletal Class II malocclusion. Methods and Material: The study sample consisted of 5 young adolescents (mean age 11 years) who had undergone functional appliance therapy that included twin block appliance therapy to correct skeletal class II malocclusion. All the patients had lateral cephalograms and profile photographs taken before treatment and after completion of functional therapy. The computer-generated prediction and the actual post functional image was compared and the accuracy of this computer - generated prediction was evaluated. Statistical analysis used: Mean error and Standard deviation. Results: The computer software is showing an error of -1.48 ± 1.33 mm in predicting growth and their is mean error of 5.02 ± 3.18 mm in predicting Lower anterior facial height . The software is under – estimating the mandibular angle. Conclusions: The computer software based predictions were good for patient’s education and communication. Efforts are needed to improve the accuracy of the system for assessment of growth changes following functional appliance therapy.
