Infertility affects one in 6 couples which means approximately 1015% of couple are impacted by this. Recently the “Pivotal Role that life style factors play in the development of Infertility” has generated a considerable amount of interest. There are many factors which cause Infertility, like Male factors pertaining to Shukra Dusti (Abnormal Seminal parameters) and Female factors like Yonivyapad , Artavadushti etc (Female reproductive tract Anatomical & Physiological abnormalities) along with that of Mind and Psyche. Basic requirements of normal pregnancy are Ritu (Fertile period), Kshetra (Healthy Reproductive tract), Ambu (Good nourishment) & Beeja (Healthy Male & Female gametes)which are really to be thought and our treatment approach should be aimed towards these factors. Present case report aims at correction of Artavadushti which yielded ovulation.

Haratala Bhasma (calx of Haratala i.e. Arsenic Trisulphide), an unique mineral product used traditionally in the management of Kushta (Laprocy) & Swasa, Kasa Vikaras (Respiratory disorders) was prepared according to the prescription in the Ayurvedic classics and subjected to various bhasma pariksha (tests for calx), including the Namburi Phased Spot Test (NPST), one of the qualitative tests described for various Ayurvedic preparations. NPST helps to differentiate between, and thus identify, various bhasmas (calx). It depends upon the pattern of the spot, which develops after a specific chemical reaction. Haratala bhasma prepared by classical reference in our department along with three market samples were subjected to above said tests and the results were compared. The various bhasmas exhibited marked differences in color, and though NPST yielded desired results for all the samples, there were difference in their spot pattern and color. The bhasma prepared in our department had produced the nearest results to standard NPST of Naga Bhasma.

Dushtavrana (Chronic nonhealing wounds) are commonly encountered problem in the surgical practice and are major concern to the health care system. Presence of necrotic or devitalized tissue is commonly seen in chronic wounds which delays wound healing. Removal of necrotic tissue/slough/exudates provides a favorable environment that promotes wound healing, lowering bacterial burden and reducing malodor. Kshara karma is indicated in the management of chronic wounds which are difficult for shodhan [1]. Kshara karma with Palasha mrudu kshara is useful in such condition. So, here is a case presented with three nonhealing wounds over anterior aspect of left leg. Palasha mrudu kshara was applied on alternative day until the Shuddha vrana laxanas were obtained; further daily dressing was done with Jatyaditaila until complete wound healing. Hence, it can be estimated that Palasha mrudu kshara possess Vranashodhana property and it can be used in the management of Dushtavrana.

Ksharsutra application in fistulainano takes upper hand in the various surgical modalities available but it has its limitations one of which is long duration of treatment. In this case study, a 45 years old male patient visited Shalya OPD with complaints of intermittent fever, swelling at perianal region, pus discharge from perianal region for 3 months. Patient underwent incision and drainage (I&D) 3 months back. On perianal examination in lithotomy position there were two external opening at 5 and 7 o’clock and a common internal opening at 6 o’clock position. Fibrosed band could be palpated from 5 to 7 o’clock. Routine blood and urine examinations were within normal range. Pus culture showed presence of Escherichia coli (E.coli). Trans rectal Ultrasonography (TRUS) report showed 10cm long “Horse shoe” shaped fistula in perianal region with external opening at 5 and 7 o’clock and internal opening at 6 o’clock, 10mm from anal verge, 20mm and 28 mm long blind branch at 5 and 7 o’clock respectively. Hence, case was diagnosed as Bhagandara (complex posterior horse shoe fistulainano). He was treated by partial fistulectomy with Ksharsutra application along with window technique. Postoperative wound healed within 6 months. Patient faecal continent was maintained and there was no evidence of fistula. Postoperative TRUS showed subcutaneous hypoechoic scar in perianal region between 5 to 7 o’clock positions. So this case highlighted that integrated approach treats the cryptoglandular infection and decreases the duration of treatment.

Ajamodadi churna is one medicine indictaed in Atisar (Diahorrea). It was explained in sharangdhar Samhita Madhyam Khanda 6th chapter, Vrunda Madhav & Yogaratnavali Atisar chapter. It contains Ajamoda (Apium leptophyllum (Pers.) F.V.M.ex Benth), Mocharas (Salmalia malabarica Schott & Endl), Shunthi (Zingiber officinale Rose.) and Dhataki Pushapa (Woodfordia fruticosa Kruz)

Toothache is one of the burning problems of public dental health. According to a report of Indian Association of public health Dentistry, 80% of children and 9095% of adult population suffer from periodontal disease in their life time. Untreated dental decay has been reported as the most important reason for toothache which impacts day today activities. There are so many treatment modalities established for the toothache in different health sciences. Mandookparni (Centella asiatica. Linn Urban) which is wellknown nervine tonic also helps to reduce the burden of toothache in simple formulations without any side effects as it is also proven for its anti-inflammatory effect which need to be enlightened in clinical practice. Kavala (Gargling) with kashayas is one of the Ayurveda treatment modality explained in classics for the treatment of Urdhwa jatrugata vyadhis (Diseases above the clavicle). Thus in this paper an attempt has been made to highlight the effect of toothache with mandookaparni kashaya kavala in toothache.

Abhraka Bhasma (Calx of Incinerated Mica) is one among the Maharasas of the Rasashastra having some peculiar attributes. Acharyas have mentioned Shataputa and Sahashraputa Abhraka Bhasma which are indeed unique attributes of Abhraka. Abhraka bhasma has its therapeutic indication in many of the diseases mainly Yakshma, Prameha, Pandu, Raktapitta, Jwara, Shwas, Kasa, Grahani etc. which are now established free radical mediated diseases. It is also having properties like Balya, Vrushya, Rasayan & Medhya. Shataputa Abhraka Bhasma is regarded as a Rasayan, as given in Rasa Tarangini, which says ‘Abhraka Bhasma when given 20100 Putas (incinerations) helps to eliminate ailments, when given 1001000 Putas acts like a Rasayan’. Review of the current literature available on Rasayanas indicates that Antioxidant and Immunomodulation are the most studied activities of the Rasayan drugs. The effect Immunomodulation has on the human body can be compared to some extent with the effect of Rasayan dravyas, given in various classical texts. Antioxidants and Immunomodulators are talk of the hour since a decade or two. Lot of research has been carried out in this regard but the need of them is not yet fulfilled. Hence assuming Abhraka bhasma possesses the antioxidant and Immunemodulator properties the present study was carried to validate it scientifically and statistically: Screening of immunomodulator effect of Shataputa Abhraka Bhasma was carried out using three different healthy adult human blood samples and with three different drug concentrations i.e. 1%, 2% and 5%. The parameters used were Nitroblue Tetrazolium Test (NBT assay), Phagocytosis, Candidacidal assay and Chemotaxis. The results were self conclusive and indicated that Shataputa Abhraka Bhasma brings about stimulation of Leucocytes in concentration dependent manner. Significant results were seen with the 5% drug concentration (suspension) in all the four tests which indicate Shataputa Abhraka Bhasma is a potential immunomodulator. 5% suspension of Shataputa Abhraka Bhasma stimulated leucocytes respectively, which is an indicator of highly significant phagocytic activity. Thus, the study revalidates the reference of Shataputa Abhraka Bhasma as a Rasayan and hence also establishing it as an Immunomodulator.

Vision 2020, by World Health Organization, has pointed out that cataract elimination is their primary goal because it is the major cause for preventable blindness. And surgical management is the treatment of choice in every diagnosed case of cataract. Authoritative textbooks of Ayurveda throw light on the importance of vision and various methods to keep it intact and measures for curing it. Considering the signs, symptoms and histological changes in the lens, different stages of senile cataract can be compared to Kaphaja Timira, Kacha and Linganasha, in which the main complaint is visual disturbances. Hence exact analysis of the pathophysiology of senile cataract is very essential to plan an accurate Ayurveda management. If succeeded theoretically and then clinically, this methodology may be recommended and introduced in National and International Levels of Vision 2020, whereby people worldwide can get sight through natural means. The problem of senile cataract blindness is very acute in India, contributing to 80% of total blindness. Hence the study was conducted to evaluate and compare the effect of Manashiladi lekhana anjana and internal medicine Abhaya churna in Kaphaja Kacha. The patients of Kaphaja Kacha were selected from OPD and IPD of Shalakya Tantra Department and allotted randomly in two groups. In GroupA patients were administered Manashiladi lekhana anjana for 30 days. In GroupB patients were administered with both Manashiladi lekhana anjana and Abhaya churna internally for 30 days. The clinical study has shown that combined therapy gives better results than topical treatment.

Introduction: Asthma originates most commonly in infancy and less so in middle age. It occurs with equal frequency in both the sexes during youth. However males are more susceptible in later life than females. Nervousness is intimately connected with the disease. However asthma itself is not fatal. Objectives: to find out whether there would be any significant difference clinical profile and PEFR of women with bronchial asthma after Yoga Therapy. Materials & Methods: The pretest and post test random group design and convenient sampling were adopted. The Study was conducted at Sri Hari Yoga Vidhyalayam, Rajapalayam, Tamilnadu. Sample size was 30 patients; 15 in intervention and 15 in control group. Data collected were collected on back ground variables, clinical profile, Peak expiratory flow rate. The data was analyzed with F ratio (ANCOVA–analysis co variance) and 0.05 level of confidence was used to test the significance. Result: The derived F ratio was 6.5 as against the table value of 3.1 proving that there was significant difference. Conclusions: After Yoga Therapy intervention there was significant improvement in chest expansion and PEFR rate. The Number attacks and usage of drugs are reduced.

Background: The anal stricture is a fibrotic narrow way to anal canal, can be also called as anal stenosis, Due to stenosis of the stool passage, there is difficulty and strain defecation leads to painful bowel movements sometimes with bleeding or mucopus in chronicity which is correlated with Sannirudhaguda in Ayurveda. Usually it happens after anorectal surgery in about 90% of Haemorroidectomy and while treating malignant lesions of the pelvis under irradiation with radiation therapy, stenosis may result in 20%. The unsuccessful treatments inspired to find out result oriented method. It is an innovative study. The Ksharasutra under PCA therapy has been proved successful in treatment of Piles, fistula, pilonidal, sinus and KSS method in anal fissure Aim: To evaluate the effect of PCA therapy consisting of Ksharasutra suturing (KSS) and Kshara Malahar (KM) in anal stricture. Materials and Methods: Total 76 patients of anal stricture were selected and randomly divided into group A (24) groupB (20) and groupC( 32).In groupA, the patients were treated with KSS where as in groupB, KM and in groupC , both KSS and KM were carried out. Under spinal anesthesia A& C group patients were treated while the B group from the beginning and groupA, patients and after 7 days by removal of KS were KM applied continuously for one week under local anesthesia, The anal wound was treated for 04 weeks and the result was assessed on the basis of gradation. Results: The assessment of result in the groupC was 98.7% success and in the groupB it was 68.8% while in group –A the result was assessed 84%.The group C treated with the KSS procedure and KM showed the maximum benefit to the patients due to both procedures had continuous action to remove the stricture lesions from the anal area. Totally 89% cases were cured while 6.5% cases of group B marked improvement after 1st week of treatment and 2.6% cases of group A had moderately improved. Conclusion: The group –C patients, treated with KSS and followed with KM procedure were cured early in time as compared to other A group (KSS treatment alone), and B group (KM treatment only)
