  Temporomandibular joint (TMJ) dysfunction is commonlyseen in young or middle aged adults, affecting millions of people each year. The prevalence of temporomandibular dysfunction (TMD) ranges from 35- 72%. It is comparable to Hanushula a disease that affects anu sandhi (temporomandibular joint), caused by vata dosha. For the present study, Hanubasti with irgunditaila was administered for seven days along with internal medication in a patient of TMJ dysfunction. The case report of 39-year old female who presented with complaints of pain and tenderness in the TMJ usually aggravated by manipulation or function, such as chewing, clenching or yawning, and is often worse upon waking, limited mouth opening andclicking sounds/crepitus from the TMJ has been presented here.

  The symptoms of Gridhrasi are Toda (pricking pain), spandana (pulsating movement), graham heaviness), stambha (stiffness) and vedana (pain) from Kati-Pradesha to Padanguli. Sciatica  is a severe painful condition where back pain which is radiating to entire leg with or without tingling numbness. Various methods used for Gridhrasi treatment but para-surgical methods i.e. gnikarma & Raktamokshana are more beneficial. Raktamokshana is one of the fascinating subject and satisfactory answer for Gridhrasi. In this case report, a female patient of 44 years having radiating pain from back to foot since 7 years consulted to OPD of Shalya Tantra. She had taken medication for sciatic pain with unsatisfactory results. So she consulted to Ayurveda hospital and was treated with Raktamokshana by cupping therapy in two sittings at 15 days interval. Result suggests that by using cupping therapy (Wet Cupping) compared to baseline treatment pain was decreased more efficiently. Hence study concluded that sciatic pain can be managed with cupping therapy.

A 52 years old Male patient approached a health care center seeking an advice for general health improvement. On elucidating the history, the patient was known alcoholic since 20 years and consumed twice daily (250-300ml). Clinical examination revealed muddy conjunctiva and tremors in the hand. On palpation, tenderness was elucidated in right hypochondric region with three finger hepatic enlargement. Investigation revealed mild hepatomegaly (Yakruttodara) with diffuse fatty infiltration of liver, mild spleenomegaly (Pleehodara) and grade I prostatomegaly with elevated LFT levels. Urine examination presented with pale yellow color, slightly turbid with presence of Albumin, calcium oxalate crystals, bacteria and pus cells. The modality of treatment adopted was Virechana karma. Post-Virechana, there was a marked regression in hepatomegaly with normal LFT and urine routine.

  Extensive knowledge of the srotas is needed because; the whole body is made up of millions of srotasses. When there is vitiation or block occurring in these transport systems of the body, there occurs stagnation of unwanted things, depletion of nutrition, and destruction of tissues and imbalance of body-mind health.These in turn lead to many diseases. A physician knowing the srotasses, their roots of origin, their end points, the materials they carry, the kind of deformity or damage or vitiation occurring in them will be the best in identifying the disease and site of pathology.He will be very efficient in aborting the disease process. Thus, the knowledge of Srotasses not only helps in learning about the anatomy of transport system of the body but also to understand their physiology and pathology. Proper knowledge of physiology and pathology is the key for success in treatment.This will help to properly explain our health issues to the doctor, so that he or she shall help you to get rid of those problems at the earliest.

  When pandurogi (anemic patient) indulging in pittakara aharavihara(diet and life style) which further leads to vitiation of pitta as well as rakta, mamsa etc as a dooshya and finally roots as amala (jaundice). It is one among the santarpanajanit(excessive nourishment) ittapradhanaraktapradoshajavikara which is explained in panduroga adhikara by charya Charaka as it produced on panduroga as partantravyadhi (dependent disease). Day today life kamala is one among the commonest condition which is seen in ayurvedic practice. By understanding samprapti(pathogenasis )and chikitsa (treatment) sutra which helps in chikitsa as by doing sampraptivighatana so called sampraptivightanamevachikitsa. Even there are plenty of references available in classics in scatteredmanner which is collected here and producing this article.

  Determination of aaharaj nidan and viharaja nidana in patients of amavata helps in diagnosis, prognosis, prevention and management of a disease, acharya Madhavakar explained about it. mavata is one of the commonly occurring clinical conditions in an ayurvedic line of management. Today, the incidence shows the increasing tendency because of life style and food habit. Among those non veg food and divaswapna should be consider prime cause of amavata. The cardinal features of amavata is divided into two constuents, one sthanika lakshna and sarvdaihik lakshana. In sthanika lakshana mainly seen are shool, stabdhta and ushnata locally along with raagata ver the twacha of sandhi. The pain where so severe like vrishchik damsa vat and there will be morning stiffness. To be consider as sarvadahik lakshana are aruchi, alsya, manda jwara, anga gaurawta etc.

  Naga Bhasma (calx of Naga i.e. Lead), an unique mineral product used traditionally in the management of Prameha (Diabetes) and Netra Vikaras (Eye disorders) was prepared according to the prescription in the Ayurvedic classics and subjected to various bhasma pariksha (tests for calx), including the Namburi Phased Spot Test (NPST), one of the qualitative tests described for various Ayurvedic preparations. NPST helps to differentiate between, and thus identify, various hasmas (calx). It depends upon the pattern of the spot, which develops after a specific chemical reaction. Naga bhasma prepared by classical reference in our department along with three market samples were subjected to above said tests and the results were compared. The various bhasmas exhibited marked differences in color, and though NPST yielded desired results for all the samples, there were difference in their spot pattern and color. The bhasma prepared in our department had produced the nearest results to standard NPST of Naga Bhasma.

  Background: Episiotomy is a surgically planned incision on the perineum and posterior vaginal wall during second stage of labour. The wound thus formed is associated with immense pain and discomfort and can affect maternal quality of life and mental health along with the mother and baby relationship. This wound can be compared to Chinna vrana (a type of Sadyovrana) wherein Taila is one among the Shashti upakrama of management. Nirgundi does Vatashamana ith its ushna virya and ultimately it does vedananashana. Hence present study was conducted to evaluate analgesic effect of Nirgundi taila in postepisiotomy period. Objectives: To evaluate analgesic effect of nirgundi taila in post-episiotomy period. Methods: 40 primigravida or multigravida who underwent episiotomy during normal vaginal delivery, admitted at KLEU’s Ayurveda Hospital and Research centre, Shahapur, Belagavi were enrolled after informed consent and were randomly categorized into study group (Nirgundi Taila Application) and control group (Yashtimadhu Taila application). Pain was assessed in terms of Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) over a period of two-and-half hours at half hourly intervals. Collected data was analyzed using repeated measures ANOVA test and Tukey’s Post hoc test. Results: both the groups treated showed reduction in pain with the control group giving lasting effects. Statistical insignificant reduction in pain score was observed at 0, 30, 60 and 90 minute post application between the groups. However at 120 and 150 minutes post application, control group showed better result with t values 2.8(p<0.05). Comparatively Yashtimadhu taila proved to decrease the quantum of pain more efficiently (67.56%). Conclusion: Nirgundi taila showed analgesic property in post-episiotomy period. But in comparison Yashtimadhu taila acted more effectively.

  Background: Wound healing is a major task in the field of surgery. Proper initial care will prevent infection and enhance healing. So it requires use of drug which is having Shodhana and opana property. Hence an attempt was made to prepare Panchavalkaladi Kashaya a novel polyherbomineral formulation which contains Vata, Udumber, Ashawatha, Parish, Plaksha, Kasisa, Tutta, and Spatika. Already it is proved fact that Panchavalkal is having the shodhana and ropana roperties and being frequently used in every speciality of Ayurveda. To enhance its properties, to increase stability of this compound and make readily available for the usage, we have added Kasisa, Tutta, and Spatika which possess shodhan, ropana and krimighna property. Aims and Objective: Development and phytochemical evaluation of Panchavalkaladi Kashaya. Methods and Material: It was subjected to phytochemical, physicochemical and TLC analysis in AYUSH approved Central Research Facility. Results: Kashaya showed presence of phytochemical constituents ie reducing sugar, hexose sugar, saponines, alkaloids, and tannins. TLC showed four Rf values in short wave and three R f values in long wave. Conclusions: It showed presence of total solids 11% and pH 4.25, tannins, alkaloids and saponins which may be act as vranaropana and shodhana clinically.
