A 57 year old female presented with the chief complaints of pain in both the heels associated with swelling and tenderness. With a standard X-ray the presence of posterior superior and inferior calcaneal spur was evident in both the heels. The patient was managed with raktamokshana followed by ishtikasweda. There was significant relief in the symptoms. With the follow up of one year no recurrence was seen in the symptoms.

Rasayana is a potentiated branch of Ayurveda, in which various herbals and herbo-mineral/metallic preparations are used. Rasayana means, that which destroys the old age and disease through the conservation, transformation, and revitalization of energy. Among different categories of rasayana yogas (preparations), Svarna Prashana is one of the unique formulation in Ayurveda administered to new born for improving immunity. Svarna Prashana was administered along with honey and ghee. In classics the reference of Svarna Prashana is available in the description of Jata Karma Samskara (ceremony conducted just after birth). According to Ayurvedic scholars, this protects baby from infectious diseases, enhances intelligence and acts as memory booster.

Swarna, the Sara Lauhais an important, noble metal known to Indians since antiquity. References can be traced back to Charaka and SushrutaSamhita where the noble metal has been used with a wide range of applications. Gold was used before the conception by the couple as geriatric and aphrodisiac, to get a healthy child, after conception at 2nd month to get the desired sex of the child, immediately after birth before the umbilical cord is cut, and as a substitute to mothers milk, and during post delivery period for enhancing intelligence, and before. And even at the death bed gold is given. So starting before the conception till the death gold was used in one or the other way. Various formulations of ‘Swarna’ Bhasma are useful as Aphrodisiac, increasing body strengnth, as rejuvenator and disease alleviators particularly in chronic debilitating diseases like tuberculosis, Bronchial asthama, chronic cough, anemia etc. Human dose for ‘Swarna Bhasma’ is 15 mg. to 30 mg. The present study is an attempt to observe the effect of Swarna bhasma on endocrine system of immature wistar strain female rats with special reference to uterus, ovary, no of follicles FSH & LH & the results are encouraging.

Cells other than Spermatozoa (Non-sperm cellular elements) like immature cells, leucocytes, RBC, particulate debris; amorphous matter and Epithelial cells present in semen greater than 2-4 per ml and agglutinate can be called as Anyadhatusamashrita, which is one among the AshtaShukraDushtiwhich is associated with Nispraja, GarbhaVikruti,Aharshana and Klaibya. AnyadhatuSamrushta is the formed by the vitiation of Kapha and Pitta Doshas. Virechana is the Shodhana procedure that is specific for the elimination of vitiated Pitta and Kaphadoshas. Thus, in the present study, it is hypothesized that Virechana helps in removing Anya Dhatu from the Shukra. In the present study, 30 subjects with Anyadhatusamsrushta found during the retopariksha were subjected Virechana with Trivrtchurna. There was significant (p<0.05) reduction in liquefaction time and viscosity, macrophages, immature cells, epithelial cells, and amorphous matter.

Tundikeri (Chronic Tonsillitis) is a common condition with 15.9% of prevalence in childhood & adolescent age group with high prevalence and repeated episodes. Recurrent attacks and incomplete treatment makes it chronic. It lacks in specific medical treatment and the surgical intervention is not suitable for all. In classics no single formulation is indicated specifically for Tundikeri. Various therapies like Nasya, Kavala, Gandusha, Pratisarana, Shastrakarma are explained in the context of Kanthagata Roga Chikitsa, can be tried in Tundikeri.
The study was aimed to compare the effect of Shunthyaadi Yoga Kavala and Pratisarana after the treatment and in sub-sequent follow-ups. It was studied in 2 groups Gr. A & B with 15 patients in each group. The pre and post treatment effect of the individual therapy and to compare them on various parameters, types of tonsillitis and even on recurrence rate in follow-up period of 3 months.
It was observed that, Kavalagraha (Gr. B) works better during and after the therapy in paranchyamatous tonsillitis and pharyngo-tonsillitis but with high recurrence rate. Pratisarana (Gr. A) is found more beneficial in follicular type of tonsillitis. It’s effect is better in subsequent follow-ups than immediately after the therapy with very minimal recurrence rate.

Ayurveda is the oldest scientific system of medicine. It considers that root cause of all types of disorders is vitiation of agni. If agni is in its natural form, person is healthy and otherwise diseased. Therapeutic agents used in this system are mainly from herbal origin. Various herbs have been indicated for the treatment of medoroga i.e. the disorders of lipid metabolism. Trigonella foenum-graecum (Fabaceae) and Cyperus rotundus (Cyperaceae) are very common herbs used for the treatment of various diseased conditions and have the potential to cure disorders of lipid metabolism.

Reduction of dosage is the prime concern in Ayurveda, because of which many samskara’s have been adopted in order to increase the potency as well as shelf life and reduction of dose. Samskara means to bring a transformation; or to bring a new quality which was not existed earlier. Thus these methods are being adopted to remove the unwanted qualities of the drug and to insert a stipulated quality into it and can be understood as the procedure adopted in which a Drug/Formulation is triturated with a liquid media (Swarasa; Kwatha; Kanji; Ksheera; Mutra etc) till it gets dried. Murvadi Agada is herbal formulation which is indicated in the acute GI manifestations needs to be potentiated in order to increase its veerya. So the present study intended to evaluate the changes which are occurring in phytochemicals of Murvadi agada before and after Bhavana with its own kashaya and also to evaluate the changes occurring in the particle size during Bhavana while triturating continuously. In present study there was marked reduction in the particle size.

Background: It’s difficult to lead the life with skin disease as it account for a great deal of misery, suffering, incapacity and economic loss. Ekakushta is a vatakapha pradhana tridoshaja vyadhi and is prime among the Kshudra kushtas and its lakshanas resembles with the Psoriasis. There is a need for more comprehensive, economical and safe method of management for Psoriasis. Hence the present study was conducted to evaluate the efficacy of Navakarshaka Kashaya Ghanasatwa in the management of Ekakushta (Psoriasis). Methods: 40 patients of Ekakushta fulfilling the inclusion criteria were randomly selected and divided into 2 groups, comprising 20 patients in each group. Clinical signs and symptoms were given suitable grading according to their severity along with PASI scoring. After completion of the treatment results were assessed and statistically analyzed to know the significance. Results: In total PAASI 48.53% improvement was seen in Group A compared to Group B with significance of 0.0004. After considering overall therapy with all the parameters 47.07% i.e moderate improvement by Navakarshaka Kashaya Ghanasatwa was observed.

Vataja Pratishayaya presents with symptoms as NasagataTanusrava, Kshavatu and Nasavarodha which are similar to allergic rhinitis. The value of detecting eosinophil in nasal secretions amongst patients with allergic rhinitis has already been reported. Thus it is hypothesized that detecting eosinophil in nasal secretion may be an important tool in diagnosing Vataja Pratishayaya. The aim was to establish the validity of nasal eosinophilia in VatajaPratishayaya, to study its various clinical correlates and interpret it in Pratishyaya.Pratishyaya patients were selected randomly irrespective of age, sex, and religion from the OPD of KLEU’s Shri BMK Ayurveda Hospital Belgaum, Karnataka. 30 patients were diagnosed on the basis of history and clinical examination of Pratishyaya. Following inclusion into the study, nasal smear eosinophil count& blood AEC (Absolute Eosinophil Count) were performed on all the patients.The results from the study show that VatajaPratishayayais more of allergic in nature as Eosinophil has been found significantly (p<0.01) more than in other Pratishyaya. Absolute Eosinophil Count have also been found more in VatajaPratishayaya significantly (p<0.001) than in Pittaja and Kaphaja. Overall, seventy six percent of nasal smears were positive in VatajaPratishaya. However results of our study were in as a diagnostic value of VatajaPratishayaya. Nasal smear eosinophilia was found to be a useful diagnostic test in VatajaPratishayaya.
