Dr. Sonika Grewal, currently serving as Subject matter specialist (Animal
Science) at Krishi Vigyan Kendra, SVPUAT, Meerut. Dr. Sonika, graduated B.V.Sc.
& A.H. from DUVASU, Mathura and subsequently qualified for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) by ICAR for M.V.Sc
(Animal Physiology) and completed her M.V.Sc. from the ICAR NDRI, Karnal,
Haryana. Dr. Sonika later pursued her Ph.D. (Animal Physiology) from ICAR NDRI,
Karnal, Haryana, in the year 2017 and received Institutional fellowship during her
Doctoral (PhD) studies. She is a researcher and field veterinarian with strong
academic and practical background in animal physiology. Her primary research
area interest lie in the area of cellular and physiological responses in
livestock, particularly how environmental stressors like heat and humidity
affect the heath, productivity, and reproductive performance in dairy animals. Her
academic journey includes extensive work in cell culture technique, hormone
analysis, and physiological parameter monitoring. These studies contribute to
developing adaptive strategies for improving livestock resilience in changing
climatic conditions. To date, She have published around 10 research articles in
peer reviewed journals in leading journals such as journal of reproductive immunology, Biological Rhythm Research, Theriogenology
and 3 Biotech ,
focusing on topics such as heat stress physiology and in vitro
cellular studies. Apart from this she has published one book, many book
chapters, more than 50 popular articles and review articles. Her work has been
recognized with Deans’ Merit award, Best extension officer award, Exemplary
field veterinarian award along with top positions in conference presentations.
In addition to academic achievements, posses experience in extension work aimed
at improving animal husbandry practices among farmers, with a focus on
technology transfer, field level trainings and farmer centric outreach.
