Journal of Emergency and Trauma Nursing

I am Tina Chelani, currently working as a Nursing Tutor at KD Institute of Nursing Sciences (KDINS), Ahmedabad. I am nursing educator with experience in clinical practice, teaching, research, and professional development, with a special interest in Medical-Surgical Nursing and Critical Care Nursing. I completed my Bachelor of Science in Nursing (B.Sc. Nursing) from Manikaka Topawala Institute of Nursing, Charotar University of Science and Technology (CHARUSAT), followed by a Master of Science in Medical-Surgical Nursing with specialization in Critical Care Nursing from Government College of Nursing, Gujarat Institute of Nursing Education and Research, Ahmedabad, affiliated with Gujarat University. My B.Sc. Nursing research focused on self-medication with over-the-counter drugs and associated factors among teenage nursing students, which developed my early interest in nursing research and evidence-based healthcare practices. My postgraduate research focused on demonstration of trauma skills and its effect on knowledge and skills among undergraduate nursing students, strengthening my interest in clinical competency, skill-based education, and innovative teaching methodologies. I have clinical experience as a Junior Staff Nurse at Apex Heart Institute, Ahmedabad, where I worked in the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory and gained experience with procedures including angiography, angioplasty, electrophysiological studies, pacemaker implantation, IABP, CRT, and BMV. My postgraduate clinical exposure included critical care, medical-surgical nursing, cardiothoracic care, neurology, nephrology, oncology, trauma and emergency care, dialysis, and intensive care. As an educator, I have guided and mentored various undergraduate nursing research projects, including "a phenomenological study exploring the lived experiences of the LGBTQ+ community in accessing and utilizing healthcare services" and " A study to assess knowledge regarding prevention and first aid of burns and choking among parents of under-five children". I have also participated in and organized seminars, workshops, webinars, skill-training programmes, and professional development activities. My areas of interest include critical and emergency care, trauma management, clinical skills training, simulation-based learning, nursing research, and innovative nursing education. I strive to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and clinical practice while supporting students in developing competence, confidence, critical thinking, and professional responsibility.
