Research Interests :

Introduction

I am Dr. Syed Mudassar Andrabi, a Professor and Head of the Department of Clinical Biochemistry at the Sher-I-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS). With a dedicated career spanning several decades at SKIMS, I have cultivated a profound expertise in the critical intersection of clinical medicine and advanced molecular research. My functional area is sharply focused on Molecular Biology, Oncogenomics, and Oncoproteomics, directly addressing diagnostic and therapeutic challenges in high-incidence cancers within the region. This foundational role not only encompasses academic leadership but also crucial administrative and representative duties, cementing my commitment to advancing clinical biochemistry standards.

My academic journey began with top honors from Kashmir University, culminating in a Ph.D. from the prestigious Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh, in 1992. My research efforts are concentrated on unraveling the molecular mechanisms underlying cancer development, particularly genetic alterations, expression profiling, and epigenetic silencing related to various malignancies. The depth of this work is reflected in my substantial portfolio of over 40 peer-reviewed publications and multiple contributed book chapters, alongside successfully securing research funding from key national agencies like ICMR and DBT for critical projects.

Beyond the lab and lecture hall, I hold significant leadership roles, including serving as the J&K State Representative for the Association of Clinical Biochemists of India (ACBI). As Head of Department and a member of various expert committees at the University of Kashmir, I actively shape research and curriculum standards. Mentorship is a cornerstone of my professional life, evidenced by the successful supervision of numerous Ph.D., D.M., and M.D. theses, driving forward the next generation of researchers in clinical biochemistry and molecular medicine. I remain committed to sustained research excellence and institutional development.
