IntroductionI am Dr. Subhas Adak, an accomplished Agronomist and Faculty member at the State Agricultural Management and Extension Training Institute (SAMETI) in Narendrapur, Kolkata. My career, spanning over a decade, is centered on advancing sustainable agriculture through research, education, and the effective implementation of government schemes. My academic background is anchored by a Ph.D. from NIT, Durgapur, where I specialized in GIS-Based Land Resource Evaluation and Management for agricultural sustainability in environmentally impacted regions. This core expertise is backed by an M.Sc. (Ag.) in Soil Science and an MBA, providing me with a unique blend of technical agricultural knowledge and administrative skills. My qualifications are further cemented by having qualified the National Eligibility Test (NET).
In my role, I manage high-impact agricultural extension and development projects. I currently serve as the Project Coordinator for several major government initiatives, including the Agri-Clinics and Agri-Business Centre (AC&ABC) Scheme, through which I've mentored over 300 agricultural entrepreneurs. I also coordinate the Soil Health Card Scheme, overseeing the analysis of over 70,000 soil samples to provide science-backed recommendations to farmers, alongside managing the National Food Security Mission (NFSM) for Oil Seeds. My research contributions, including five publications in international referred journals on GIS applications in crop suitability and environmental impact, demonstrate my commitment to evidence-based agricultural science. I am proficient in English, Hindi, and Bengali. Beyond administration and research, I am dedicated to nurturing the next generation of agricultural professionals, having guided numerous M.Sc. and Ph.D. students. I have been honored with awards like the Young Scientist Award and the Best Extension Scientist Award for my contributions to the field.
