Introduction


Dr. Sonali D. Borkar is an Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Veterinary Biochemistry at Nagpur Veterinary College, Maharashtra Animal & Fishery Sciences University (MAFSU), Nagpur. Her professional expertise encompasses Veterinary Biochemistry, Clinical Biochemistry, Enzymology, Nanomedicine, Green Nanotechnology, Oxidative Stress, Biomarker Analysis, Livestock Nutrition, and Animal Health. She completed her B.V.Sc. & A.H. and M.V.Sc. in Veterinary Biochemistry from MAFSU, qualified the ASRB-NET, and obtained her Ph.D. in Veterinary Biochemistry.

Her research primarily focuses on the green synthesis and characterization of silver nanoparticles, nano-based therapeutics, antimicrobial and antioxidant activity, oxidative stress, biomarkers, and wound healing in animals.

Dr. Borkar has published 46 research papers, submitted 42 gene sequences to NCBI, and contributed extensively to national and international scientific forums. She has received several prestigious recognitions, including the University Gold Medal for outstanding Ph.D. performance, the Best Ph.D. Thesis Award, Best Researcher Award, and numerous Best Paper, Oral Presentation, and Poster Presentation Awards. A significant milestone in her research career is her Indian patent for “Azadirachta indica Induced Silver Nano-Particles (AI-AgNPs) and Formulation Thereof,” for which she is the Applicant and Inventor. Dr. Borkar has made substantial contributions to farmer education, livestock health awareness, scientific outreach, women empowerment, and institutional development. She has contributed 78 extension and popular articles and has played an important role in developing analytical laboratory and departmental infrastructure. Her ORCID iD is 0000-0001-9968-8121.
