I am Shruti Kahol, a molecular pathologist specializing in cancer biology, with my research journey culminating in the recent submission of my Ph.D. thesis from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, in the Department of Pathology. My foundational expertise is built upon my M.Sc. and B.Sc.(H) in Biochemistry from Jamia Millia Islamia and the University of Delhi, providing a robust understanding of fundamental biological processes. My doctoral work focused on a critical area of translational research: the “Analysis of HUWE-1 regulated metabolic and immunological attributes in Triple Negative Breast Cancer (TNBC).” This comprehensive investigation positions me at the intersection of cellular metabolism, immunology, and cancer pathogenesis, specifically in one of the most aggressive cancer subtypes.
My professional experience spans nearly a decade, having served in continuous research fellow roles, including a Senior Research Fellow position at AIIMS. This trajectory has afforded me exceptional proficiency across gold-standard pathology and molecular techniques essential for clinical research. I have hands-on experience in standardizing and performing quality control for both manual and Automated (Ventana) Immunohistochemistry (IHC), Fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) for Her-2/neu, and routine PIK3CA Mutation Testing on breast cancer patient samples, directly supporting diagnostic workflows. Further technical expertise includes extensive molecular biology skills like genomic/RNA extraction, Real-Time PCR, Proteomics (Western Blotting, SDS-PAGE), and comprehensive cellular biology techniques, including cell culture and various functional assays.
My commitment to scientific excellence is demonstrated through multiple achievements, including the prestigious ICMR-JRF and SRF Scholarships and qualification in GATE-Biotechnology. I actively contribute to the scientific discourse, serving on the Editorial Board of the Indian Journal of Genetics and Molecular Research and as an invited reviewer for the European Journal of Medical Research. Critically, I have successfully disseminated my Ph.D. findings through presentations at major international forums, including an oral presentation at JSMO 2024 and poster presentations at ESMO Congress 2023 and AACR 2024. As a member of the European Society of Medical Oncology (ESMO), I am eager to apply my specialized, translational expertise to a challenging role in advanced cancer diagnostics or targeted therapeutics.
