Introduction


Dr R K Thapar is an alumnus of Baba Farid University of Health sciences, Faridkot (Punjab).After his medical graduation & one year houseman ship in Medicine & Pediatrics; he joined Armed Forces Medical Services (AFMS) in 1986. He did his post graduation in Pediatrics from Army Hospital (Research & Referral), Delhi Cantt. affiliated to Delhi University. He served as Pediatrician in various parts of the country & later completed his Post Doctoral Neonatology Long term Training (two yrs) from prestigious AIIMS, New Delhi. Thereafter has served as Pediatrician & Neonatologist at various Command Hospitals of the Armed Forces. He has been a post graduate teacher for last 19 yrs & has guided many Post Graduates in Pediatrics in AFMS. He had been a PG examiner & thesis evaluator in many universities e.g. WBUHS, KGMU Lucknow, Rohilkhand University, Manipal & Delhi Univ.  He is a certified BLS instructor & had been the Centre coordinator for the IAP CPR training center at Command Hospital, Lucknow for 5 yrs. He conducted many certificate BLS courses for Health Care Professionals in many medical colleges of the UP. He has been associated with National Board of Examination in various capacities for last many years for DNB Pediatrics. He has special interest in Pediatric Intensive care, Pediatric Neurology & Pulmonolgy. He believes in providing holistic care to the children with a humane face. He is passionate about learning, teaching, updated evidence based medicine & in overall development of his juniors. He has published 41 papers in various journals & contributed chapters in two books.
