Introduction

I am Dr. Rahul Diliprao Suryawanshi, an accomplished Assistant Professor in Veterinary Public Health with a robust academic foundation and nearly a decade of experience in teaching, research, and extension. My expertise lies in the critical intersection of animal and public health, with a focused specialization in Zoonoses and Food Safety. I hold both an M.V.Sc. and a Ph.D. in Veterinary Public Health from esteemed institutions, including the Indian Veterinary Research Institute (IVRI), Izatnagar, complemented by the qualification of both the ICAR and UGC NET examinations. My career reflects a deep commitment to the One Health approach, dedicated to mitigating public health risks arising from animal-borne pathogens and food contaminants.

My research work has centered significantly on the development of reliable diagnostic tools for pathogens like Listeria monocytogenes, demonstrated through my Ph.D. research on virulence markers-based sero-diagnosis of listeriosis in humans and animals. This dedication to advanced research was further recognized when I was awarded the prestigious Indo-US Public Health Research Fellowship at Pennsylvania State University, USA, which provided invaluable international exposure and expertise. I have actively contributed to the scientific community with 9 full-length articles and 22 abstracts published in national and international forums. Furthermore, I have enriched the field through roles as an editorial board member for two journals and by preparing four training manuals focusing on biosafety, biosecurity, and value addition of food products.

Currently, I serve at the College of Veterinary & Animal Sciences, Udgir, where I am committed to academic excellence and practical application of my knowledge, including a tenure as a Scientist on the AICRP on Post-Harvest Technology. Beyond my professional obligations, I am a life member of key professional societies, including the Indian Association of Veterinary Public Health Specialists (IAVPHS) and the Society for Biosafety, India, showcasing my commitment to continuous professional engagement. My active involvement in organizing and attending numerous training programs and workshops underscores my belief in lifelong learning and transferring knowledge, which is vital for maintaining high standards in veterinary public health and food safety.
