Introduction


Dr. Poonam Bakhetia has been serving as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Food and Nutrition, College of Community Science, PAU, Ludhiana 
since March 19, 2013. She holds a Ph.D. and M.Sc. in Food and Nutrition, and a B.Sc. in Home Science. She has taught over 30 undergraduate courses and
 guides M.Sc. and Ph.D. students as a Major Advisor. As ELP Incharge, she actively contributes to skill enhancement and resource generation. 
She has published 25+ NAAS-rated research papers, 2 manuals, 2 book chapters, and had involved in AICRP on Women in Agriculture Project. 
Her outreach includes 30 extension articles, 10 radio/TV talks, 25+ lectures, and organizing 65 trainings, 15 vocational programs, exhibitions, and NCC camps. 
With participation in 33 professional development programs, her work reflects dedication to academic excellence, rural health, and women’s empowerment
 through capacity building and nutrition education.
Dr. Poonam Bakhetia is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Food and Nutrition, College of Community Science, 
at Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), Ludhiana. 
Since joining the institution on March 19, 2013, she has built a distinguished career spanning over a decade, marked by significant contributions
 to academic instruction, advanced research, postgraduate mentorship, institutional leadership, and community outreach. She holds a Ph.D. and an 
M.Sc. in Food and Nutrition, building upon a foundational B.Sc. in Home Science.
As a dedicated educator, Dr. Bakhetia has taught more than 25 undergraduate courses in B.Sc. (Hons.) Home Science and B.Sc. (Hons.) Nutrition & 
Dietetics. Beyond classroom teaching, she has driven academic excellence by aligning university curricula and academic manuals with the Fifth Dean’s 
Committee recommendations. She has also served as the Major Advisor for seven M.Sc. and two Ph.D. scholars, while guiding 15 additional postgraduate 
students as an advisory committee member. Between 2016 and 2020, her research capabilities were further demonstrated through her active association 
with the All India Coordinated Research Project (AICRP) on Home Science.
An accomplished researcher, Dr. Bakhetia has published 30 research papers in prestigious NAAS-rated journals. Her scholarly portfolio also includes a 
research manual, four booklets, 30 extension articles, four newsletters, and two book chapters. She actively contributes to the wider scientific community
 by serving on the editorial boards of four journals and peer-reviewing papers for 18 reputed publications.
At the grassroots level, Dr. Bakhetia translates scientific knowledge into community action. She frequently delivers radio and television talks, conducts 
lectures and demonstrations for farmers and farm women, and leads vocational training programmes. Her institutional leadership is equally robust, 
serving as the Incharge of both the Food Laboratory and the Experiential Learning Programme (ELP)—where she fosters entrepreneurship through bakery 
activities—alongside roles as Convener for NCC and the Hospitality Committee.
