My name is Dr. Pramod Kumar Sharma, and I am a Professor in the Department of Soil Science and Agricultural Chemistry at the Institute of Agricultural Sciences, Banaras Hindu University (BHU), Varanasi. I hold a B.Sc. (Ag) from N.D. University of Agriculture & Technology, Faizabad, an M.Sc. (Ag) and Ph.D. in Soil Science from G.B. Pant University of Agriculture & Technology, Pantnagar, along with NET qualifications from ASRB, ICAR. Over the past two decades, I have built a strong academic and research career in the fields of soil fertility, soil contamination–phytoremediation and pedology, driven by a deep commitment to sustainable soil management and improving agricultural productivity.

With 19 years of teaching experience at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, I have contributed significantly to academic development and student mentoring. I have guided four Ph.D. scholars and forty-three M.Sc. (Ag.) students, many of whom are now contributing to agricultural research and development. My research portfolio is extensive, with over 105 research papers, 60 conference presentations, 4 edited books, 5 book chapters and several completed and ongoing research projects as Principal Investigator and Co-Principal Investigator. My recent research has focused extensively on nutrient management, phytoremediation of heavy-metal-contaminated soils, organic amendments and soil fertility assessment across diverse agro-ecological regions. I have also collaborated with national and international agencies, including ICAR institutes, UGC and York Potash Limited (UK).

Beyond teaching and research, I have made substantial administrative and institutional contributions, including serving as Programme Coordinator of NSS at BHU (2013–2019) and as Student Advisor since 2019. I am a life member of multiple national scientific societies and actively participate in departmental committees, laboratory management and academic advisory roles. Through my academic, research and outreach activities, I remain dedicated to enhancing soil health, promoting sustainable agriculture and contributing to national agricultural development.
