Introduction

As a dedicated Professor of Forensic Medicine at Vydehi Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Centre, I am Dr. Padmini Hannah Noone. My professional journey spans over 14 years in academic medicine, rooted in a strong foundation established by my MBBS and post-graduate specialization. I hold both an MD and a DNB in Forensic Medicine & Toxicology from Govt Medical College, Calicut, completed in 2009. This extensive background has allowed me to cultivate a profound expertise in the medicolegal sciences, focusing on areas crucial to justice and public health, including complex autopsy findings, forensic histopathology, and the meticulous study of anatomical variations. I thrive on mentoring the next generation of medical professionals, shaping their understanding of both the clinical and legal responsibilities inherent in medical practice.

My commitment to continuous professional development is reflected in my interdisciplinary qualifications. Beyond my core forensic training, I expanded my clinical scope by obtaining a PG Diploma in Family Medicine (PGDFM) from CMC Vellore in 2011, enabling a holistic view of patient care and societal well-being. More recently, I completed an MBA in Healthcare Management in 2021. This strategic qualification bridges my clinical expertise with administrative acumen, equipping me to contribute effectively to institutional planning, resource management, and improving the operational efficiency of healthcare and medical education systems within VIMS and RC. This combination of forensic depth, primary care insight, and management strategy is unique and highly valuable.

Furthermore, I have a significant track record of scholarly contribution, marked by numerous publications, primarily as the first and corresponding author in indexed journals like the Journal of Forensic and Legal Medicine. My research portfolio is diverse, spanning detailed autopsy-based observational studies on cardiovascular anatomy, medicolegal approaches to death cases, and critical pedagogical research on teaching ethics to medical undergraduates through methods like role-play. My professional mission is to leverage my comprehensive skills—my 14 years of teaching excellence, rigorous forensic specialization, and strategic management insight—to advance the Department of Forensic Medicine and promote high-quality, ethically grounded medical education and research within the institution and the wider medical community.
