Dr. Olita Shilpakar is a trailblazing emergency medicine physician with a robust academic background and extensive experience in Nepal and beyond. With a DM in Emergency Medicine, MD in General Practice, and MBBS from esteemed institutions, she has dedicated her career to advancing emergency care and medical education. Her work spans multiple top-tier hospitals in Nepal, where she serves as an Assistant Professor and Consultant, shaping the next generation of healthcare professionals. 

A pioneer in Nepal’s emergency medicine landscape, Dr. Shilpakar is one of the first female doctors to achieve a Doctorate in Emergency Medicine in the country. Her contributions extend to developing national guidelines, conducting workshops, and collaborating with organizations like WHO and Oxford University Clinical Research Unit-Nepal. She champions gender equity in medicine and works tirelessly to enhance emergency healthcare systems, especially in resource-limited settings. Her leadership roles in professional societies and as a trainer for life-saving courses underscore her commitment to impactful change.

Recognized globally for her efforts, Dr. Shilpakar received the 2023 Academy for Women in Academic Emergency Medicine and Global Emergency Medicine Academy Award for her service to global EM. With publications in international journals and roles as a journal reviewer and editor, she bridges clinical care, research, and policy. This blend of clinical excellence, research, and advocacy positions Dr. Shilpakar as a driving force in shaping emergency medicine in Nepal and inspiring future leaders.
