Introduction


Dr. Niranjan Chinara born into the village Badakul,Dist: Khordha of Odisha state on 5th November 1978. He graduated in Agriculture fromDeen Dayal Upadhyay Gorakhapur University, Gorakhapurin 2001; M.Sc(Ag) Plant Pathology and Ph.D in Plant Pathology from OdishaUniversity of Agriculture and Technology (OUAT), Bhubaneswarin 2003 and 2021 respectively. He has qualified ICAR, NETExamination-2003 and started his carrier as Project assistant inRRL, Bhubaneswar (Now CSIR-IMMT) in the year 2006. He worked as Junior Scientist (Plant Pathology) in All India Coordinated Cotton Improvement Project, RRTTS, OUAT, Bhawanipatna (2009 to 2013) and Assistant professor in All India Coordinated Project on Mushroom, OUAT, Bhubaneswar (2013 to 2024). Now he is working as Junior Plant Pathologist in All India Coordinated Project on Fruits (Banana), OUAT, Bhubaneswar from February, 2024. He has 13 years experience in teaching, research and extension inthe field of plant pathology, cotton and mushroom biology. He hasinvolved as scientific group in release of Variety BS 279 (Cotton,Gossypium hirsutum L) from AICRP on Cotton, RRTTS, OUAT,Bhawanipatna during the year 2020 and development of technology(DMRO-1072: A high yielding strain of paddy straw mushroom(Volvariella volvacea), 2023(ICAR-HS-DMR- Strain-2023-094).Twenty research papers, 45 abstracts, 20 booklets, 52 populararticles and 4 book chapters published by him. Nineteen PGstudents of Plant pathology, Entomology, Nematology, PostHarvest Engineering and Technology and Biotechnology disciplinehave completed their research work under his guidance. He hashonoured as “Best Diversified Agricultural Award” in Rajib GandhiIcon Award-2022 and “Outstanding Teacher Award” from M.S.Swaminathan School of Agriculture, Centurion University ofTechnology and Management, Odisha in 2022. He has been selectedas manager for Experiential Learning Programme and Co-PI forexternally funded projects. He has recognized as Zonal Councillor(East Zone) for Mushroom Society of India, ICAR-DMR, Solan, (HP) and External member in selection committee of ICAR-NRRI,Cuttack and ICAR-CIFA, Khordha.
