Introduction

I am Dr. Nalini Sharma, currently serving as an Assistant Professor in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (NEIGRIHMS), a prestigious Central Government Institute in Shillong, Meghalaya. My professional journey began with my MBBS in 1998, followed by an MS in Obstetrics and Gynecology in 2001. Over the last 16 years, I have accrued extensive post-graduate clinical experience, managing a wide spectrum of complex obstetric and gynecological cases with dedication and precision. My clinical proficiency is further enhanced by specialized training in essential diagnostic and therapeutic modalities, including laparoscopy, ultrasound, and colposcopy, enabling me to provide comprehensive and high-quality patient care.

My commitment to the field extends deeply into medical education, with over nine years of continuous teaching experience. I am actively involved in shaping the next generation of healthcare professionals by instructing both undergraduate and postgraduate students. A significant aspect of my academic role involves guiding research, demonstrated by my recent tenure as a thesis co-guide for four postgraduate candidates. I prioritize maintaining contemporary educational standards, having completed the Basic Course in Medical Education Technologies in 2015, alongside crucial clinical training such as the Advanced Life Support in Obstetrics (ALSO) provider course, ensuring my teaching methodologies and clinical practice are both safe and up-to-date.

On the research front, I maintain a robust academic profile with over 25 publications in various national and international indexed journals. My work encompasses original articles and case reports covering diverse topics, reflecting a broad interest in advancing gynecological and obstetric knowledge, including a publication that was recognized with a Best Paper award. Furthermore, I have been a devoted member of the Federation of Obstetric and Gynaecological Societies of India (FOGSI) for 19 years, actively participating in numerous national and international conferences, CMEs, and workshops. This continuous engagement underscores my dedication to lifelong learning and contributing meaningfully to the growth of our specialty.
