I am currently working as
an Assistant Professor in the Department of Microbiology at Hindu Rao Hospital,
Delhi. Over the years, my interest in clinical microbiology and infection
prevention has grown not only from academic exposure but from the real-world
challenges I witness daily in a busy government hospital. Seeing how simple,
timely infection control measures can prevent suffering and improve patient
outcomes has shaped my commitment to this field in a very personal way.
My work involves HAI
surveillance, diagnostic stewardship, and supporting the Infection Control Team
in strengthening practical, achievable IPC practices. I have participated in
national training programmes on antimicrobial stewardship and infection
surveillance, which have helped deepen my understanding and refine my approach
to implementing evidence-based practices on the ground.
I particularly enjoy
working closely with clinicians, nursing staff, and laboratory teams, as these
interactions remind me that infection control is ultimately about teamwork,
communication, and shared responsibility. Training sessions, audits, and
day-to-day discussions with staff have taught me the value of small, consistent
improvements in creating a safer hospital environment.
My goal is to contribute
meaningfully to reducing hospital-acquired infections, improving antimicrobial
use, and promoting a stronger culture of patient safety. I hope to continue
learning, sharing, and supporting initiatives that bring practical, positive
change to healthcare settings.
