Introduction


Dr Hemendra Singh is MD in Psychiatry from NIMHANS, Bangalore and is working as an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at Ramaiah Medical College & Hospitals, Bangalore. Dr Singh has vast experience in the field of psychiatry particularly in the area of suicide prevention for more than 13 years and has won various national (including prestigious Dr SS Jayaram Awardof Indian Psychiatric Society) and international awards & grants. He has more than 60 publications in peer reviewed national and international journals. In addition, he is in-charge of Intentio0nal Self harm & Suicide Prevention clinic at Ramaiah Memorial Hospital. He conducted various symposia on suicide prevention at national & internal conferences.
