Dr. Sartaj Ahmad Guroo, currently serving as an assistant professor cum officer in-charge in the department of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery (CTVS) at the prestigious All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Vijaypur, Jammu. I have done my schooling from a government high school Tokuna Pulwama. I have done my MBBS from Jammu University and masters in General Surgery from SKIMS. After completion of my masters I joined Jammu and Kashmir health department. After providing my services to government of Jammu and Kashmir I joined Safdarjung hospital to pursue M.CH in CTVS. I have as Assistant professor at Safdarjung hospital and Jawaharlal Nehru medical college and hospital. My interest is in pediatric cardiac surgery. So far I have done pediatric, adult, thorax and vascular surgery. So far I have published more than 10 original articles in different journals. I am instrumental in organizing many workshops and CME at AIIMS Jammu. I am also giving teaching to undergraduate and postgraduate students. I am also engaged with the community through various platforms. I have done many outreach programs so that to give awareness to general public about congenital heart diseases (CHD), myocardial infarction. Cardiac arrest and other life taking procedures so that early steps can be taking to save life. One of my notable achievements includes leading AIIMS Jammu’s first femoro- popliteal bypass surgery first thorax surgery venous disease surgeries.
