Introduction


Dr. Kiran Kumar Prathipati is an Associate Professor in the Department of Otorhinolaryngology and Head & Neck Surgery at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Nagpur, India. He holds an MBBS and MS in Otorhinolaryngology and has completed a Fellowship in Head & Neck Surgical Oncology from the Gujarat Cancer & Research Institute, Ahmedabad. He has over 10 years of post-graduate experience in otorhinolaryngology and has extensive clinical experience in otologic, rhinologic, laryngologic, pediatric ENT, and head and neck surgical procedures.

His academic and research interests encompass otology and skull-base surgery, rhinology and endoscopic surgery, head and neck oncology, thyroid and salivary gland disorders, oral squamous cell carcinoma, surgical outcomes, and translational approaches to cancer diagnosis and management. His current research includes molecular and biomarker-based investigations in oral cancer, including studies involving gene expression and prognostic markers. He is also Principal Investigator of funded research projects investigating integrative approaches to oral premalignant lesions and oral cancer and the management of oral submucosal fibrosis.

Dr. Prathipati has received research funding from ICMR and CCRAS and has been recognized with the Dr. Salim Yusuf Award, FHNO Travel Award, and international travel support for academic conferences. He has presented his research at national and international scientific meetings and has served as faculty at ENT and head and neck academic programmes, including international conferences and surgical workshops.

He has authored or contributed to peer-reviewed publications in otorhinolaryngology, head and neck surgery, oncology, and related medical fields, including publications in the Indian Journal of Otolaryngology and Head & Neck Surgery, Cureus, Medical Mycology Case Reports, and Maedica. He also serves as a reviewer for several PubMed-, Scopus-, and DOAJ-indexed journals.

As an editorial board member, Dr. Prathipati is committed to scientific rigor, ethical research, methodological quality, critical appraisal, and clinically relevant scholarship, with the aim of contributing to the advancement of evidence-based otorhinolaryngology and head and neck surgery.
