Introduction

I am Dr. Kaushik Saha, Professor and Head of the Department of Medicine at KPC Medical College and Hospital, Kolkata, Founder and Chairman at ADEA Diabetes Centre and Eye Care, and Visiting Consultant at ILS Hospitals. I hold an MBBS, DCH, MD in General Medicine, MRCPS (Glasgow), FRCP (Glasgow and London), and a Diploma in Endocrinology from the UK. With over 20 years of experience in clinical practice, academic medicine, and postgraduate medical education, I am committed to advancing evidence-based clinical practice and scientific scholarship. My principal areas of clinical and academic interest include diabetes mellitus, endocrinology, obesity, cardiometabolic diseases, thyroid disorders, and general internal medicine. My professional work focuses on integrating current scientific evidence into clinical decision-making, improving patient outcomes, and promoting comprehensive, multidisciplinary approaches to chronic disease management. I have a keen interest in clinical research, scientific writing, and the critical appraisal of medical literature. My research interests include diabetes and metabolic disorders, clinical medicine, and medical education. I am also actively involved in postgraduate teaching, MD thesis guidance, academic assessment, and faculty development, with particular interests in competency-based medical education, OSCE, and programmatic assessment. As a prospective medical journal reviewer, I aim to contribute to the scientific community through objective, constructive, and timely evaluation of research manuscripts. I consider methodological rigour, appropriate statistical analysis, ethical integrity, originality, transparency of reporting, and clinical relevance to be essential elements of high-quality scientific research. I believe that effective peer review should not only assess the scientific merit of a manuscript but also help authors strengthen their work and communicate their findings more clearly. I look forward to contributing my clinical experience, academic perspective, and commitment to scientific integrity to the peer-review process, supporting the publication of reliable, clinically meaningful research that advances medical knowledge and improves patient care.
