I am Dr. Kumkum Sarkar, a dedicated physician and academic with a strong foundation in clinical medicine, currently serving as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Tropical Medicine at the esteemed School of Tropical Medicine, Kolkata, India. My professional journey is rooted in a comprehensive medical education, culminating in both an M.B.B.S. degree and an M.D. in Tropical Medicine. At 36 years old, I have already developed significant experience in both clinical practice and medical instruction, fostering a deep commitment to addressing and understanding the complex health challenges prevalent in tropical environments.

My role as an Assistant Professor allows me to integrate hands-on patient care with the crucial work of educating the next generation of medical professionals. I am deeply engaged in the academic mission of my department, contributing actively to research that directly impacts patient outcomes. This dedication is evidenced by my robust publication record, which includes around 25 publications in various National and International Journals. These publications cover a range of subjects within my specialty, demonstrating my consistent commitment to scholarly contribution and knowledge dissemination within the medical community.

A notable example of my recent research is the publication, "CORRELATION OF PLATELET COUNT/SPLEEN DIAMETER RATIO AND UPPER GASTROINTESTINAL ENDOSCOPY FINDINGS IN CHRONIC LIVER DISEASE PATIENTS," which appeared in the Global Journal for Research Analysis (GJRA) in March 2019. This work exemplifies my focus on critical diagnostic and prognostic markers, particularly in conditions common in tropical regions. Living and working in Kolkata, I continue to pursue research and clinical excellence from my base at the School of Tropical Medicine.
