Introduction

I am Dr. Sravya Deepika Ganti, a Surgical Oncologist and Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgical Oncology at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Mangalagiri, Andhra Pradesh, India. My clinical and academic training has been shaped by extensive experience at leading tertiary-care institutions in India, including Andhra Medical College, PGIMER Chandigarh, and AIIMS Bhubaneswar. I completed my MS in General Surgery at PGIMER Chandigarh, followed by MCh training in Surgical Oncology at AIIMS Bhubaneswar. My surgical oncology practice encompasses breast, gastrointestinal, gynaecological, and head-and-neck malignancies, with particular academic and clinical interests in breast oncology, soft-tissue tumours, gynaecologic oncology, minimally invasive surgery, and multidisciplinary cancer care. In 2025, I was awarded the IASO–ESSO Overseas Observership Award, which enabled me to undertake advanced training in colorectal onco-surgery at Sahlgrenska University Hospital, Gothenburg, Sweden. During this observership, I gained exposure to robotic and minimally invasive colorectal surgery, cytoreductive surgery with HIPEC, complex pelvic procedures, ERAS pathways, and multidisciplinary tumour-board decision-making. Research and academic activity form an important part of my professional work. I have contributed to clinical research involving breast cancer outcomes, neoadjuvant therapy, patient-reported outcomes, perioperative interventions, and oncological prognostication. My work includes Audit of institutional breast cancer outcome studies, and validation of the CPS+EG staging system in breast cancer. I have authored peer-reviewed publications and presented research at several national and international oncology conferences. As an academic surgeon, I am particularly interested in clinically relevant research, evidence-based surgical oncology, multidisciplinary cancer management, and strengthening the translation of research findings into everyday patient care.
