Introduction

I am Dr. Chandana N C, a highly accomplished cardiovascular and thoracic surgeon with a distinguished career spanning over a decade in advanced surgical practice, medical education, and clinical research. Holding qualifications including an MBBS, DNB in General Surgery, and an MCh in Cardio Thoracic Vascular Surgery (CTVS), complemented by a Fellowship in Critical Care Echocardiography (FCCE), my expertise is deeply rooted in both broad surgical principles and specialized cardiac care. I currently serve as an Associate Professor in the CTVS Department at the prestigious Sri Jayadeva Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences and Research (SJICR), Bengaluru, where I have been contributing significantly to patient care and academic leadership since 2016, progressing from an Assistant Professor role.My academic journey is marked by consistent excellence, including achieving the 24th State Rank in my SSLC and graduating with strong aggregate marks throughout my medical training from Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Medical College and Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences. Clinically, my professional focus is dedicated to the complex field of cardiovascular surgery. My experience is grounded not only in my ongoing tenure at SJICR but also through prior clinical roles, which have provided a comprehensive understanding of surgical management for cardiovascular and general surgical pathologies. This foundation ensures that I bring a meticulous and evidence-based approach to both the operating theatre and the classroom.Beyond surgical practice and teaching, I am an active contributor to the scientific community through significant research and professional engagements. I have served as a co-investigator on crucial clinical studies, including the evaluation of the BACE device for functional mitral valve regurgitation and a prospective study on the Dafodil pericardial bioprosthesis. My commitment to disseminating knowledge is further evidenced by a strong publication record, including numerous papers in renowned surgical journals like Chirurgia and the Annals of Pediatric Cardiology, covering rare syndromes, anomalous vessel origins, and advanced surgical techniques like off-pump CABG. Furthermore, I contribute to the growth of the specialty by actively participating in and serving as an Organizing Faculty for major conferences such as the Bengaluru Ozaki Summit and Critical Care Echocardiography workshops.
