Introduction


Dr. Anup Chandra accomplished his graduation in the subject of ‘Agriculture’ from the University of Agricultural Sciences, Dharwad, Karnataka in 2006; Master (2008) and Doctoral (2012) degrees in ‘Entomology’ from the Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI, Pusa Campus), New Delhi and qualified ICAR-NET in the year 2009. He joined the ICAR-ARS in 2011, initiating his career from ICAR-Research Complex for NEH Region, Umiam, Meghalaya, and served in the position of Scientist (Agricultural Entomology) at the ICAR Arunachal Pradesh Centre till 2018. He has been instrumental in the field of pulse entomology, specially sucking insect pests of vital importance. He had been associated in the development of high yielding field pea varieties, IPFD 19-1 (Shikhar) and IPFD 19-3 (Arpan). To his credit, there are 32 research articles, 14 book chapters, 21 popular/technical articles and several extension bulletins, folders and leaflets. He has been conferred with the IAHF (Indian Association of Hill Farming) Young Scientist Award-2017. He has also received the Best Scientist Award-ICAR Arunachal Pradesh Centre in 2014. He had been commended as an Outstanding Participant of the ICAR-Sponsored Short Course on “Techniques in Insect Molecular Biology and Toxicology” by the ICAR-Sugarcane Breeding Institute, Coimbatore. He is also the recipient of Best Team Award (Research & Development)-Field pea Team (2023). Apart from these, he is the Life Fellow of the Entomological Society of India, New Delhi and Life Member of several scientific societies. He is serving as a Member of Editorial Board of Indian Journal of Food Legume and regular reviewer of many peer reviewed journals, including the National Academy Science Letters. With more than 14 Years of experience in Agricultural Research & Extension Services under ICAR, presently he is working as a Senior Scientist (Agricultural Entomology), in the Division of Crop Protection, Indian Institute of Pulses Research, Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh
