I am Dr. Amol Ashok Shinde, a dedicated medical educator and seasoned Associate Professor in the Department of Anatomy at Dr. D.Y. Patil Medical College, Pune. My career is firmly rooted in a strong academic foundation, starting with my M.B.B.S. from B.J. Govt. Medical College and culminated in an M.D. in Anatomy in 2013 from Dr. D.Y. Patil Vidyapeeth. With over a decade of continuous service and contribution to this institution, I have focused on translating the intricate science of human structure into clinically relevant knowledge for the next generation of healthcare professionals. My commitment to anatomical science is complemented by ongoing efforts in teaching methodology and curriculum development.
My professional journey at Dr. D.Y. Patil Medical College began in 2013, where I swiftly advanced through the ranks, achieving the position of Associate Professor in January 2020. Over the past twelve years, I have not only focused on didactic teaching but have actively shaped the academic environment. I serve as a Member of the Board of Studies in preclinical subjects, contributing directly to curriculum excellence. Furthermore, my participation in the Basic course in Medical Education and Technology (M.E.T.) reflects my dedication to adopting modern, effective pedagogical techniques. My experience includes delivering guest lectures on specialized topics, such as the 'Anatomy of Mediastinum,' emphasizing the clinical correlations of complex anatomy.
Beyond teaching, I maintain a robust research profile and active professional engagement, resulting in 11 publications, including 7 original research articles. A significant eight of my papers have been featured in international journals, demonstrating the global relevance of my work. My research interests span morphometric studies—like those on the sacral hiatus and accessory renal arteries—and educational studies, such as assessing attitudes towards cadaveric dissection. I further contribute to the scientific community as a Life Member of the Anatomical Society of India (ASI) and the Society of Clinical Anatomists (SOCA), and I am currently pursuing an ICMR STS-accepted project focusing on the lateralization of Broca’s speech area.
