Introduction

Abyt Ibraimov, Ph.D., Dr.Sc., is a highly distinguished and prolific scientist, a citizen of the Kyrgyz Republic born on January 1, 1948. With a career spanning over five decades, Dr. Ibraimov has become a preeminent figure in Human Genetics and Cytogenetics, particularly known for his groundbreaking work on chromosomal polymorphism, human adaptation, and the provocative Cell Thermoregulation Hypothesis.

His academic journey began with a Diploma in higher education as a Pediatrician from the Kyrgyz State Medical Institute (1970). He then earned his Ph.D. (1974) and the prestigious Dr.Sc. (1985) in the former USSR, with his doctoral research focusing on "Chromosomal polymorphism in human populations."

Professionally, Dr. Ibraimov served as the Head of the Laboratory of Human Genetics at the National Center of Cardiology & Internal Medicine for over 45 years, and since 2020, he leads the Laboratory of Human Genetics at the International Higher School of Medicine in Bishkek. His vast list of publications—from major studies on Q- and C-polymorphism in various populations to evolutionary theories—underscore his profound contributions to the field.

A respected member of the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic and a Fellow of the International Association for the Human Biology, Dr. Ibraimov's commitment extends to public life, having served as a Member of the Parliament of the Kyrgyz Republic from 1990 to 2000. He remains an active, married father of three sons, dedicated to advancing scientific knowledge in areas like Human Evolution and the potential role of non-coding DNA.
