  Children, adolescents and youth today face many social and cultural problems. For some youth, pressures include poverty, violence, parental problems, and gangs. Adolescents may also be concerned about significant issues such as religion, gender roles, values, or ethnicity. Some children are having difficulty dealing with past traumas they have experienced, like abuse. Parents and their teenagers are struggling between the youth’s wanting independence while still needing parental guidance. These conflicts may result in behavioral problems in children and adolescents. Behavioral issues in adolescents can have serious consequences for the adolescents. A sizeable population of our adolescents needs support in coping with emotional and behavioural problems. Though many children of families with problems may be normal, knowledge of the family environment and problems in the adolescents identifies the adolescent-family dyad that may need attention. It indicates towards the need for a multi-prolonged intervention to prevent these problems in adolescents. Keywords: Adolescence; Behavioural Problems; Disruptive; Peer Influence; Aggression. 

This paper reviews the complicated literature on acquisition of school readiness skills in Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Thanks to the high degree of interest in ASD within the past decade, the health sector has been ever-changing quickly, with progress in each basic science and applied clinical areas. Autism Spectrum Disorder is the entity that reflects a scientific understanding that many alienated disorders are seen under one spectrum with totally different levels of symptom severity in 2 core domains - deficits in social communication and interaction, and restricted repetitive behaviors. Autism Spectrum Disorder is diagnosed in all race, ethnic and socioeconomic groups and since of its extended prevalence its reported worldwide in last few years. Beginning school could be a major event in any child’s life and whereas for children with disabilities this transition may be difficult. School based intervention program within the initial years of life will improve psychological aspect, language and daily living. We offer an outline relating to teacher readiness and why it’s necessary to require initiative to enhance the talents and the way.

  Introduction: Good physical health, mental health and wellbeing are important factors in the lives of the aged. With this thought, this study wasaimed to assess and compare subjective wellbeing, perceived physical health problems and mental health status of elderly living with families in urban and rural areas, and to determine the relationship of subjective wellbeing with perceived physical health problems and mental health status. Methodology: This descriptive comparative study included 100 elderly from Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh. For measuring subjective well-being, Subjective Well-being Inventory (SUBI) by Sell and Nagpal (1992) was used and structured tool to assess perceived physical health problems and mental health status of elderly was developed. Data were interpreted by descriptive and inferential statistics. Results: Results revealed no significant difference between the subjective well-being of elderly living in urban and rural areas. The most common perceived physical  health problems among elderly in both urban and rural areas were general health problems, sensory (Eye, ear and nose) problems, cardiovascular problems, musculoskeletal problems. Both urban and rural elderly had fair mental health status and a significant negative correlation was found between subjective well-being and perceived physical health problems in both areas. Also, a significant positive correlation was found between subjective well-being and perceived mental health status of elderly living in urban and rural area

  Background: An intimate relationship is an interpersonal relationship that involves physical or emotional intimacy. Those who are in such relationship may experience violence and it can be seen in both males and females. Depression and suicidal attempt can be a major health problem which needs early intervention and treatment. Aims: To assess the relationship between Intimate partner violence with depression and suicide. Settings and Design: Cross-sectional, hospital-based study. Recruitment by purposive sampling. Materials and Methods: Total of 2362 consecutive subjects who visited the psychiatry OPD from March 2017 to April 2018 were assessed and among them 46 subjects, both men and women in the age group of 18 to 60years were recruited. Those subjects who reported IPV on HITS scale were assessed for severity of depression on Hamilton depression rating scale and suicidal intent on Beck suicide study subjects belonged to rural background and lower socioeconomic status. Among them 82.4% women and 41.7% of men reported IPV? It is also positively correlated with depression [95.6%] and suicidal intent [69.5%].

Introduction: Alcohol dependence and depression coexist with each other. Now a day’s people use alcohol as a source to relieve their depression.But alcohol dependence increases the harmful effects on the body, also resulting in suicidal tendencies. Aim of the Study: To studythe association between depression and alcohol dependence. Materials and Methods: Adescriptive study was done in the department of Psychiatry at Kamineni Institute of Medical Sciences, L.B. Nagar, Telangana for duration of one year from May 2017 to June 2018. A total of 120 cases who had history of alcohol intake associated with alcoholic dependence and depression were included in the study. SADQ and HAM-D were used to assess severity of alcohol dependence and depression. Results: In the present study, majority of the patients were in the age group of 41-50 years (62.5%). 41.6% (50/120 ) started intake of alcohol at the age of 21-30 years.In the present study there was a male predominance, about 91.6% and females about only 8.3 %. Majority of the patients consumed > 60 gm/24hr of alcohol, i.e., 83.3%(100/ 120). 33.3% (40/120) were married, while 25% (30/ 120) were unmarried and 25% were divorced and 16.6% (20/120) were committed but not married. Depression was seen in all 120 cases. Conclusion: The prevalence of depression among alcohol-dependent persons is high. There is recovery from depression after alcohol detoxification and rehabilitation, and majority of the cases do not necessarily require treatment for the depression. In addition persons that   are depressed have a significantly higher craving for alcohol after detoxification and rehabilitation. It is important to screen for depression and evaluate to determine the treatment needs during detoxification and rehabilitation.

  Introduction: Dementia is one of the cognitive conditions which leads to severe disability leading to increased aggression and then making the individual dependent on others. Nurses being frontline providers of care are in position to render care to dementia patients. The objectives of the study were to assess disability, care dependence and aggression among dementia patients and find correlation between disability, care dependence and aggression among dementia patient. Methodology: The research approach selected for the present study was quantitative approach. Correlational and descriptive research design was adopted.The sample technique was purposive sampling. The data were gathered from the caretakers by interview. Standardized tools namely Disability Assessment for Dementia, Care Dependence Scale and Staff Observation aggression scale were used. Results: The results revealed that the care dependence needs had the highest mean (56) which was an indicator that dementia patients required care and were more dependent on care from the family members and caregivers. Followed by Disabilitydomain where the mean was reported to be 17.35. Aggression domain reported least mean (4.5). Aggression domain reported least mean with 4.5. In addition, 16 (80%) had reported disability, highest disability was evident in learning areas with a mean score of 2.6, followed by maintenance of normal temperature and understanding rules and regulations with an equal mean score of 3.2. Additionally, majority   of the patients, that is, 15 (30%) were partially care dependent and 80% (16) of the dementia patients demonstrated aggression.Also, weak positive correlation was found between aggression and disability and disability and care dependence. No correlation was found between aggression and care dependence. Conclusion: The day care and residential care facilities lack nursing care to a great extent. Nurses need to educate the caregivers at home and hospital to provide care and provide assistance with activities of daily living and engage them cognitive stimulating activities.
