Prevalence of mental disorders among children has been reported to be 14 – 20 % in various studies. The prevalence of behavioural problems in India has been explored by different authors which shows a rise in prevalence rates from 9% in 1964 to 36.5% by 2001. The objectives of the study were to assess behavioral problems of army and civilian school children, to compare behavioral problems and to determine relationship between behavioral problems with selected demographic variables. This study was carried out on 100 children from army and civilian school (50 from each school).Findings revealed that behavioural problems were more among army school children as compared to civilian school children. Thus, concluded that there is a need to guide the teachers and parents on management of behavioural problems in children.

Background: Relapse is common and stressful aspect among substance abusers. In the present study  an attempt  was made to study relapse precipitants among opioid, alcohol and multiple substance dependence. Methods: A survey was conducted to identify relapse factors associated with relapse to problematic substance abuse in 50 clients enrolled in treatment programme for substance use disorders. Clients were interviewed by using socio-demographic profile sheet, Relapse Precipitate Inventory (RPI) to explore common relapse precipitants among substance abusers. Results: Study  reported more negative state (6.90±2.08) associated with relapse phenomena followed by positive /euphoric events (6.34±2.98). 88% patients reported consumption of substance when looking others are involved in drinking. Conclusion: Future researchers are encouraged to replicate this study and explore more dynamic factors which contribute to relapsed addiction to prevent many behavioral and psychological problems among substance abusers in future. It is also recommended that regular follow up, family and peer support also essential with ongoing rehabilitation to curb relapse.

Stigma is something about a person that causes her or him to have a deeply compromised social standing, a mark of shame or discredit. Despite the fact that public has now become aware about the neurobiology behind the mental illness, this awareness has not caused significant reduction in the stigma. One of the factors contributing to stigma is media, as most newspaper stories related to mental illness focus on dangerous and violent acts. Often these stories end up in front headlines causing fear, resentment, anger, prejudice and hatred among people. Reducing stigma must involve programs of public advocacy and public education on mental issues. Additionally, effective means of treatment regimen for mental disorders will help to decrease stigma to a great extend.

Bullying is widespread and perhaps the most underreported safety problem on school campuses. A non experimental descriptive survey was done to assess the pattern and impact of bullying behavior among the school children. 50 school children aged 10-14 years were selected through convenience sampling technique. The tool used was structured interview schedule. Variables under study included 4 predictors: types of bullying, places of being bullied, impact of bullying and measures taken by teachers and parents toward bullying. It was seen that 74% of subjects had been called names (e.g. mota, moti, kala, kali, ganju etc.), 66% had been made fun of, 62% had been robbed, 62% had been pushed or shoved, 58% had been slapped. 82% children had mild impact of bullying such as : feeling sick, feeling bad/sad, not wanting to go to school, having no friends, having difficulty in sleeping, low self- esteem, decrease in appetite ,not talking to anyone, waning of interest in play and other activities, becoming irritable, having nightmares, feeling frightened when alone, bed wetting, while 10% had moderate impact and 8% had severe impact of bullying. Common places of bullying were: the school premises before and after the school timings. The children reported that they had informed about the bullying incidents to their school teachers and parents.

Background: Psychosexual disorders are disturbances in sexual function secondary to emotional and/or mental causes. Lack of relevant information on psychosexual disorders may create many issues in Adolescents’ lives. In Indian scenario many adolescents do not  talk about such issues openly. Hence  it is necessary to create awareness among the adolescents to prevent various psychosexual disorders in future. Objectives: 1. To assess knowledge of adolescents regarding selected psychosexual disorders before and after administration of planned teaching programme in selected higher secondary schools of Ahmedabad. 2. To find out the association of the pre test knowledge scores with selected demographic variables. Methods: Pre -Experimental approach was used with one group pre-test post-test design. The study was conducted in selected higher secondary schools of Ahmedabad. The investigator used multi stage random sampling technique for selecting 60 samples. A planned  teaching programme on psychosexual disorders was prepared. A structured knowledge questionnaire was prepared to assess the knowledge of the samples regarding selected psychosexual disorders. Content validity of the developed tool and planned teaching programme was established before the data collection.
