The case study is about the Bihar State Milk Co-Operative Federation (COMFED) which markets dairy products under the brand name Sudha. The study was conducted to find out the reason for success of home grown brand in face of stiff competition from national and international brands. Sudha ice-cream used penetrative pricing to make inroads into the market. Sudha had established itself as a trustworthy brand in Bihar in terms of quality and maintenance of quality level. Sudha brand had created a strong customer base and had gained their loyalty. Sudha ice-cream came out with variants catering to different tastes in different segments. They covered entire market segments through differentiated targeting. Sudha already had a well established distribution network in urban as well as rural areas which helped in distribution of its Sudha ice-cream. Sudha ice-cream differentiated itself on the use of fresh cream as a base of ice-cream in place of vegetable oil which was used by its competitors. This helped in creation of healthy image in the minds of the consumers. It also synced with the healthy lifestyle being emphasised and practiced by a large segment of consumers. Ice-cream is consumed mainly by children and parents are generally concerned about food consumed by them. Sudha ice-cream’s fresh cream base gave them competitive advantage. Marketing strategies practiced by Sudha ice-cream led to the increase of sale from 684 mts in 2010-11 to 1545 mts in 2014-15.

Cerebral palsy is the most common motor disability in childhood. Because of the developing nature of Indian health care in semi-urban and rural areas and the lack of technology used in these areas, cerebral palsy has been a visible problem in the country. In India, the average estimated incidence of CP children is around 3/1000 live births. This made the authors to dig deeper into the situation and understand the issues at the grass roots. The authors collected primary data from an organization (USHAS) which exclusively caters to CP affected children and conducted an in-depth study. This case study finds that the treatment, patient care & support, clinical processes, and patient quality of life are the major challenges to CP management in India. The findings also indicate that the management of CP is not problematic only because of lack of cutting-edge technology, medicine or sophisticated equipment to carry out procedures but has become more complicated as the society lacks awareness and also has failed to be empathetic towards CP affected people.

Mahatma Gandhi was a visionary who understood the importance of women in society. He reformed several regressive aspects of Indian culture and tradition including dowry, purdah system, untouchability and child marriage. His reforms strengthened women’s status in society and empowered them. Women’s self-esteem rose and their dignity were upheld through Mahatma’s efforts. Gandhiji’s vision was to turn women from abala to sabla. Gandhiji’s philosophy was inclusive growth where all sections of society rich and poor, high and low, men and women should be treated at par and given equal opportunity for growth. Gandhiji had immense faith in the inner strength of women. He believed that women naturally possessed qualities of love, non-violence, sacrifice and forgiveness. Therefore he made women part of freedom struggle. He felt that success of Satyagrah and Dandi March were linked with active participation of women. Gandhiji had learnt the method of Satyagrah from his mother and wife whom he saw quietly resisting against exploitation at home. He gave credit to his wife and mother to teach him empathy towards women. Gandhiji adopted a rational approach towards religion and never followed it blindly. He wanted modifications in religious scriptures to do away with exploitative customs. Gandhiji realised that women were intellectually, mentally and spirituality equal to male and can participate in all the activities. He felt that women should be educated to make them independent and confident.They should be trained in various skills for their financial independence and support to their families. This paper highlights the inspiring ideologies of Mahatma Gandhi and modernity of his thoughts as a social reformer which brought respect and dignity to women in society. His inspiring ideology boosted their morale and brought about women empowerment.

Equitable access to education is a contemporary theme discoursed among the educationists in Sri Lanka. The disabled, the poorest and the marginalized are neglected in the society and that most of them are unaware of the opportunities available for them. In schools, most of the differently able students fail to get the  support of the teachers due to the attitude of the teachers. In this backdrop, Attitude towards special need education is, inter alia need of the hour and the attitude of teachers are important in designing and implementing special needs education in the schools. The objective of this study is to find out the attitude of teacher trainees towards special needs education in terms of gender and locality. A sample of 100 teacher trainees were selected at random. Data were collected by using the tools of questionnaire and personal data sheet. The data were analyzed using t test. In the analysis, it was found that teacher trainees have favourable attitudes about special needs education. There was no significant difference in the attitude of teacher trainees towards special needs education in terms of their locality.

The present study entitled “Barriers faced by the Beneficiaries of RSETIs- an Insights” has studied about the barriers faced by the RSETIs beneficiaries for start-up a business. The study has focussed for study the status of beneficiaries settled and beneficiaries not settled after attending the training programme from RSETIs and to identify the barriers preventing for not being an entrepreneurs or still unemployed after conducting the training programme from RSETIs. Study has selected the sample from RSETIs not settled beneficiaries for finding the barriers. Snowball sampling method was used to identify the not settled beneficiaries of RSETIs. The review of annual report (2017) from National Centre for Excellence of RSETIs (NACER) indicate that 42.89 per cent of the beneficiaries were not settled after attending the training programme from RSETIs. The study concludes that high rate of rent for building, lack of infrastructural facilities due to financial problem, high labour cost, family is not supporting for being an entrepreneur, unethical interference from the government officials are the major barriers preventing for not being an entrepreneur after attending the training programme from RSETIs. This study report will helpful to the authority to take sufficient remedies for removing these barriers.

Micro finance as a powerful tool and a novel concept emerged for eradication poverty at the grass roots through financial inclusion, economic and social development and attaining self–sufficiency. Micro finance enters in all areas as and sectors including the dairy sector in Kerala. Most of the farmers in the dairy sector are poor and difficulty to find capital of their own. Micro finance is one of the sources of capital for the farmers. Microfinance is a type of banking service that is provided to low-income or unemployed individuals who do not have access to typical banking services. Ultimately, the goal of the field is to give these individuals the opportunity to become self-sufficient and sustainably lift themselves out of poverty. Microfinance is a general term used to encompass a vast variety of financial services to serve the poor, such as microcredit, micro savings, micro insurance, and fund transfers. Sustainable growth and food security are the world biggest challenges, as the population is now over 7 billion people. Small enterprise producing traditional foods have a high social, economic and even ecological role as they usually are based on sustainable technology, their products are unique and thus competitive and are the source of jobs and income for many rural families acting as true guardians of the land. India remains the world’s largest producer and consumer of milk

The Internet is a primary source of health information for many. Good health is an indispensable prerequisite for the socio-economic development of any country. High-quality health information can be provided through websites, forums, blogs, and social networks, which have been some of the most popular channels for health promotion among young people in past 10 years.

Objective: The objective of the study was to assess the attitude towards online seeking of health information and to associate the attitude towards online seeking of health information among young adults with their demographic variables.

Methodology: Quantitative research and descriptive survey design was adopted for the study. A total of 150 samples were selected using non probability purposive sampling technique at Maraimalainagar. The tool used for the study comprises of 2 sections, section-A Demographic data (which includes: age, sex, educational status, occupation, monthly income, types of Family, place of residence, and marital status) and section-B- A structured 5 point likertscale developed by the investigator was used to assess the attitude.

Results: The study findings revealed that among 150 samples, none of them has poor attitude, 2 (1.3%) samples had moderate attitude, 138 (92.0%) samples had good attitude, and 10 (6.7%) samples had very good attitude.

Conclusion: Health agencies should ensure the improvement of online health information quality and the creation of health-related websites and programs dedicated to young adults.

Human Resource is an important competitive factor and the present problem with human resources in India is the lack of requisite skills for employability. India is an emerging country and is in transition from agriculture to knowledge based economy. The Corporate Social Responsibility is mandatory in India. The gap between the specific industry skill and the current skill is wide. The National Skill Development Corporation was formed through public-private partnership and funds are committed through mandatory Corporate Social Responsibility. This paper presents the emerging role of business enterprises in the skill development initiatives of government through Corporate Social Responsibility to address skill mismatch. The NSDC survey for the State of Andhra Pradesh in India establishes the net deficit of human resources with requisite skills is 24.8 lakhs. The corporate social responsibility is playing a major role in the overall development of the country by skilling India.

The conflict leads to adverse repercussions. It suppresses not only the development activities, but also the education of a country. The objective of the study was to find out the influence of ethnic conflict on the attainment of students in GCE (O/L) examination in the eastern province of Sri Lanka. A sample of 18 schools situated in Ampara, Batticaloa and Trincomalee districts was selected using random stratified sampling technique. From each school 10 teachers and its principals were selected for gathering information. Content Analysis of Examination Results, Questionnaire on Impact of Ethnic Conflict and Interview were used as tools for collecting data. The results of the study revealed that the ethnic conflict of Sri Lanka has affected the performance of the students who studied GCE (O/L) examination during the war period. For remedial actions, it was suggested to provide scholarships and facilities to the war affected students. The private investment in education was also motived in the east.
