Mothers are important for the development of their children. To raise healthy children healthy mothers are of importance. Unfortunately in many developing countries still too many women die during pregnancy or child birth. Midwives are truly the unsung heroines of the challenge to reduce the risks of the women face in bringing for the life. 5th of May was established to be celebrated as a day to honour the midwives for their big contribution towards the health of their nation.

Jaundice occurs when there is a build-up of a naturally occurring substance called bilirubin after the breakdown of the red blood cells. If the bilirubin levels get too high, it leads to hyper bilirubinemia and long term central nervous system damage. Phototherapy or light therapy (light treatment) is the process of using a blue/white light of varying intensity to eliminate bilirubin in the blood by assisting the liver in regulation. A biliblanket is a special light vest portable phototherapy device for the treatment of neonatal jaundice. This system uses fiber optic blankets and represents advanced technology in phototherapy treatment given in the hospital or at home

Human papilloma virus (HPV) is a group of more than 150 related viruses. HPV is the most common sexually transmitted infection with most sexually active men and women being exposed to the virus at some point during their lifetime. HPV is transmitted through intimate skin-to-skin contact. Person can also get HPV by having vaginal, anal, or oral sex with someone who has the virus. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved three vaccines to prevent HPV infection and these vaccines provide strong protection against new HPV infections.

Parents spend a lot of energy on preparations, and after the baby arrives, much of the family’s attention involves caring for the newborn. All this change can be hard for older siblings to handle. But parents can prepare kids for an addition to the family. Discussing the pregnancy in terms that make sense to kids, making some arrangements, and including kids in the care of the newborn can make things easier for everyone.

This study was conducted to find the beliefs about caesarean section amongst women of childbearing age in selected hospitals in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. In the course of the study, five research questions and five hypotheses were formulated to direct the study. A survey method was used which is indicative in interview and discussions with people to obtain facts. The population of study was 853 pregnant women who came for antennal clinic in selected hospitals in Indore, Madhya Pradesh within the month of January 2017 with sampling size of 85 women. Accidental sampling method was used with a structured questionnaire—Questionnaires on beliefs about caesarean section among women of child bearing age in in selected hospitals in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. Same was administered by the researcher and his assistant and the data was analysed with mean, standard deviation, chi-square and One-way analysis of variance (ANOVA). The result revealed that there are significant influences of traditional and religious beliefs on caesarean section amongst women of childbearing age. The result further showed that there is significant difference in belief about caesarean section amongst women of childbearing age based on their educational qualifications, income status and number of children. It was recommended that there should be proper enlightenment of pregnant women over the relevance of caesarean section in the churches, communities and schools.
