Background: Palliative care as "an approach that improves the quality of life of patients and their families facing the problems associated with life-threatening illness, through the prevention and relief of suffering by means of early identification and impeccable assessment and treatment of pain and other problems, physical, psychosocial and spiritual. "Terminal illness or endstage disease is an incurable disease that cannot be adequately treated and is reasonably expected to result in the death of the patient. This term is more commonly used for progressive diseases such as cancer or advanced heart disease than for trauma. In popular use, it indicates a disease that will progress until death with near absolute certainty, regardless of treatment. Any child or adult who has a serious or life-threatening illness, such as cancer, heart failure, or neurological or other disorders, may benefit from palliative care. It can be started at any time, no matter your illness or stage of disease. Objectives: To assess the knowledge regarding Palliative Care among staff nurses working in selected hospitals of the city and to disseminate an information booklet. To assess the knowledge regarding Palliative Care among staff nurses. To associate the pre test knowledge score with selected demographic variable. To disseminate an information booklet regarding Palliative Care among staff nurses. Methodology: A Non experimental study with descriptive research design is used among 100 staff nurses working in selected hospitals of the city and are available at the time of data collection. The non probability convenient sampling technique was used. Data was collected on Knowledge regarding palliative care among staff nurses was assessed by administering the questionnaire regarding palliative care .Information booklet was given on the same day after the pre-test. The collected data was coded, tabulated and analyzed by using descriptive statistics and inferential statistics. Result: Study shows that 70% of the staff nurses had good level of knowledge score. 28% of the staff nurses had average level of knowledge score, 2% of the staff nurses had very good level of knowledge score. Conclusion: Thus it was concluded that assessment of knowledge regarding palliative care among staff nurses working in selected hospitals of the city was good. Staff nurses was having good knowledge in area of symptoms management and role of a nurse in palliative care. But overall nurses may have need to attend more training programme on palliative care to improve quality of nursing care. Background: Corneal diseases constitute significant causes of visual impairment and blindness worldwide, especially in developing countries. Corneal transplantation offers the potential for sight restoration to those who are blind from corneal diseases. Number of eye donations remain quite insufficient in India. Eye donations are dependent on people willing to pledge their eyes on donation and on relatives to honour that pledge upon the death of the person. Assessment of knowledge and attitude on eye donation is essential for better understanding of the people on different aspects of eye donation. Objectives: To evaluate the effectiveness of online video assisted teaching programme on knowledge and attitude regarding eye donation among nonmedical undergraduate students. Design: Pre experimental one group pre test and post test design. Setting: Nonmedical colleges in Raipur. Sample Size: 50 non medical undergraduate students. Sampling Technique: Non probability sampling technique. Method: Pre test was done by using self structured questionnaire and attitude scale, after that online video assisted teaching programme was given and post test was done by using the same scale and questionnaire on 15th day. Results: In pre test 10% students had inadequate knowledge and 54% had moderate knowledge, while 36% had adequate knowledge. In the post test no students was having inadequate knowledge, 12% had moderate knowledge and 88% have adequate knowledge. Association between the pre test knowledge with demographic variables are not significant. Conclusion: Online Video assisted programme is effective. Background: Organ and tissue transplantation has become a vital part in the health care in every country. Hence it has become the need of the hour to the knowledge and attitude of the general public towards organ donation. Purpose: The study was designed to determine the knowledge regarding organ donation among general population, to find out the attitude towards organ donation among general population, to find an association between knowledge of general population regarding organ donation and demographic factors and to find an association between attitude of general population towards organ donation and demographic factors. Methods: A cross sectional descriptive survey was designed among 100 and a questionnaire survey conducted among general population in Kerala. Results: The overall knowledge about organ donation among study participants was 97% (n=100). And 97% showed a favourable attitude towards organ donation. Conclusion/Implications for practice: majority of participants are aware about the legislation and the process of organ donation. This study shows the importance of creating awareness among the general population and conduct studies to explore the common obstacles which prevent people from volunteering for organ donation. Background: Administration of immunosuppressive medications or immunosuppressant’s is the main method of deliberately
induced immunosuppression in optimal circumstances; immunosuppressive drugs are targeted only at any hyperactive component
of the immune system. People with previous cancer who require immunosuppressions are not more likely to have a recurrence,
throughout its history, radiation therapy has been used to decrease the strength of the immune system.
Objectives: To assess the pre-test knowledge regarding nursing care of patient with immunosuppressive therapy, and to associate
the post-test knowledge score with selected demographic variable.
Methodology: a pre experimental one group pre test post test design was adopted for the study. It was conducted over 60 staff
nurses and was selected by using non probability convenient sampling technique. Pre test was done using self structured
questionnaire for knowledge. After pre test the researcher administered self instructional module regarding knowledge. Post test
was done after seven days and analysis showed that there was significant increase in knowledge after administering selfinstructional module. The analysis reveals that post test mean knowledge score was higher 23.15 with SD of 2.76 when compared
with the pre test mean knowledge score value which was 12.70 with SD of 2.88. The calculated‘t’ value 28.77 is greater than
table value 2.00 at 0.05 level of significance. Hence it is statistically interpreted that the self instructional module on knowledge
regarding nursing care of patient with immunosuppressive therapy was effective. Thus the H1 is accepted and H0 is rejected.
Conclusion: The significantly association was found on knowledge score with age (in years), marital status, area of working and
none of the other demographic variables were associated with knowledge score.
