  Low back pain which is one of the common health and chronic problems among nurses. Due to this the quality of care for patient is compromised in some instances. Objective: assess the prevalence of low back pain among nurses working in tertiary care hospital. Research Methodology: Across sectional survey with purposive sampling technique among 133 nursing officers. Informed consent obtained from every sample. Results: this survey results proved 40% nursing officers reported low back pain is a gradual onset, Due to low back pain 22% having in standing, 16% problem in sitting and other daily physical activity. Conclusion: Nurses low back pain gradually increasing as they start to enter into patient carrier. They should plan their activities inbetween their daily activities which should include regular relaxation techniques and rest.

  Introduction: Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is an important non communicable disease epidemic that affects the world population including India. The prevalence of end stage renal disease (ESRD) is rising throughout the developed and developing countries. Aim: The present study was taken up in an effort to assess the effectiveness of intra-dialytic stretching exercises in reducing painful muscle cramps among patients undergoing dialysis at selected hospital, Hyderabad. Methodology: Research approach adopted in the present study is quantitative approach and the design was True Experimental (Pre test post - test only) design. The study setting was selected hospital in Hyderabad. Subjects of the study included 60 Hemodialysis patients. Data was collected by using structured questionnaire, Modified Penn Spasm Scale and Numerical Pain Rating Scale. The reliability was competed by using Karl Pearson’s Formula and
split half method which showed ‘r’ value is 0.808 which indicated that tool was highly reliable. Results: The study findings showed a positive view towards intradialytic stretching exercises among experimental group which indicated that intradialytic stretching exercises are effective in reducing painful muscle cramps in dialysis patients. The mean value in pre test is 7.43 and the post test is 3.80. The Standard deviation in pre test is 2.012 and post test is 2.310. The calculated t - value (15.638) which is greater than the table value (2.045) at the level of probability. Conclusion: The severity (intensity, duration, and frequency) of muscle pain during haemodialysis can be effectively reduced by performing stretching exercises.

  Background: Frailty as a biological syndrome of decreased reserve and resistance to stressors resulting from cumulative declines across multiple physiological systems and causing vulnerability to adverse outcomes Prevalence estimates of 7–16% have been reported in non-institutionalized, community-dwelling older adults. The occurrence of frailty increases incrementally with advancing age, and is more common in older women than men, and among those of lower socio-economic status. Frail older adults are at high risk for major adverse health outcomes, including disability, falls, institutionalization, hospitalization, and mortality. Objectives: 1) To assess the existence knowledge regarding the biological frailty syndrome among general population. 2) To evaluate the effectiveness of planned teaching on knowledge regarding biological frailty syndrome among general population. 3) To associate the post test knowledge score with selected demographic variable. Material and Methods: Non-experimental design. Research approach: Descriptive evaluative approach. Sampling technique: Non-probability convenience sampling and sample size: 60 people. Result: The study shows that significant difference between pre-test and posttest knowledge scores interpreting effective planned teaching on knowledge regarding biological frailty syndrome among general population. Mean value of pre-test is 6.73 and post-test is 16.83 and standard deviation of pre-test is 1.413 and post-test is 1.251. The calculated t-value is 43.436 and p-value is 0.000. There was significant association of the posttest knowledge scores and selected demographic variables such as age and occupation. Conclusion: The study showed that the planned teaching on biological frailty syndrome among general population was effective in improving the knowledge of general population and thus helps them to understand the meaning.

  Background: The patient in the intensive care unit often requires mechanical assistance to maintain airway patency. Current generations’ ventilators incorporate computerized systems to deliver and monitor ventilator parameters. So nurses need to gain in-depth knowledge and advance skills to provide the quality nursing care of a patient on mechanical ventilator. The aim of this research was to study effect of learning package on nurse's knowledge and skills regarding care of a patient on mechanical ventilator among staff nurses. Material and Methods: One group pretest-posttest pre-experimental research design was used to assess the effectiveness of learning package on knowledge and skill regarding care of patient on mechanical ventilator among 60 staff nurses who were selected by non-probability convenience sampling technique. Structured knowledge questionnaire and structured observation checklist were used to assess the knowledge and skill of staff nurses respectively. Both descriptive and inferential statistics were used to analysis of data. Findings: Majority 34 (56.66%) of staff nurses were male and 55% and 90% were between the age group 21-25years and having diploma in nursing respectively. The mean pre-test knowledge score and skill score was 21.6±3.9 and 25.0±3.3 respectively whereas; posttest knowledge and skill score were 30.4±3.5 and 31.6±3 respectely. The level of knowledge and skill regarding care of patient on mechanical ventilator was significantly higher after receiving the learning package and knowledge and skill was significantly correlated. Conclusion: The study concluded that learning package lead to significant improvement in nurse's knowledge and skills about care of patient on mechanical ventilator as computed‘t’ test was significant at 0.05 level of significance.

  The aim of the study was to evaluate and compare the effectiveness of lecture cum demonstration and lecture cum video assisted teaching method of undergraduate nursing students. A true experimental study with two group pre-test post-test design was adopted. Simple random sampling technique was used to draw 60 subjects from a class of 100 students. A Pre-test for all study participants to assess the knowledge regarding neurological assessment was conducted. After Lecture session selected subjects were randomly assigned into Video assisted teaching group (n=30) and Demonstration teaching group (n=30). Demonstration of neurological assessment was administered to Demonstration group and a prerecorded videography of the same procedure was presented to Video group separately. Post-test was performed using Knowledge questionnaire to assess the knowledge and Objective Structured Clinical Examination was conducted to assess skills of the students. The collected data analysed using descriptive and inferential statistics. The findings revealed that there was no significant difference between subjects of Demonstration and Video group in terms of baseline characteristics. The mean post-test Knowledge score 20.20±2.9 was significantly higher (p=0.001) than that of mean pre-test knowledge score 17.60±2.9 in Demo group. The mean post-test knowledge score 22.87±3.2 was significantly higher (p<0.001) than the mean pre-test knowledge score 17.90±2.4 in Video group. The mean gain in knowledge score of Video group (4.9±3.6) was significantly (p=0.016) higher than that of gain in knowledge in Demo group (2.6±3.6). Both the teaching methods resulted in significant improvement in knowledge scores; however Video assisted teaching method was found to be effective as compared to Demonstration method in terms of gain in knowledge scores. Video assisted teaching can be an effective tool not only due to its easy to share and self-teaching possibility but also effective in improving knowledge compared to other teaching techniques.
