Hyper-emesis gravid-arum is a severe form of nausea and vomiting in pregnancy, (hyper-emesis education and research foundation, HER, 2006). This condition causes excessive pregnancy related nausea and vomiting that prevents adequate intake of food and fluids. In untreated cases (or) severe cases of HG, a client could have weight loss, dehydration with the production of ketones, Nutritional deficiencies, metabolic imbalances, difficulty with daily activities, psychosocial stress, depression (HER). For many women, hyper-emesis gravid-arum commences between the 4th and 6th week of pregnancy with symptoms improving by the 15th to 20th week of gestation (HER). Hyper-emesis gravid-arum negatively impacts both the mother and the developing fetus. Studies have shown that those infants exposed to HG in utero are significantly more likely to have a low-birth weight (Bailit, 2005; Dodds et.al.,2006) Another study indicated that those infants exposed to HG are more likely to born earlier, be small for gestational age may die between 24 and 30 weeks of gestation compared with infants not exposed to HG (Bailit).

 A quasi experimental one group pre-test and post-test research  was conducted to assess the effectiveness of education on activity and leisure time management on pain and functional ability among adults with knee osteoarthritis at Sri Venkateshwara medical college hospital and research centre. 30 males and females were selected with stratified random technique based on sampling criteria. Pain and functional ability were measured with Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) and Modified WOMAC scale respectively. Subjects were educated regarding activity and leisure management for 1week and observed for 4 weeks. At the end of fourth week Pain and functional ability were measured. Pre-test and post test pain score were analyzed using t test with mean and standard deviation of 4±1.13. t score of 19.883 signifies that education was effective at P<0.001 in reduction of pain. Functional ability mean score was 12.53± 6.458 with t value of 10.63 which is highly significant at P<0.001 at the fourth week. Pain score association with demographic and clinical variables using Chi-square test were not significant at P <0.05level. Hence, educational intervention was needed to enhance adherence with clinical management and promotion of flexion of knee among adults with Knee Osteoarthritis.

An evaluative study was conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of self-instructional module (SIM) regarding knowledge and practices of chest physiotherapy on children suffering with respiratory conditions among nurses working pediatric wards of selected hospitals of Belgaum city, Karnataka. Totally 45 staff nurses were selected by non-probability purposive sampling technique. The knowledge and practice were assessed by using structured knowledge Questionnaire and observational checklist. The study results reveal that during pre-test, 11(24.44%) had good knowledge & 8 (17.77%) had good practice scores, 23 (51.11%) had an average knowledge & 32 (71.11%) had an average practice scores; and 11 (24.44%) had poor knowledge & 5 (11.11%) had poor practice scores on chest physiotherapy. After introduction of the SIM, All the nurses (100%) had good knowledge and 40 (88.88%) had good practice scores; 4(8.88%) had average practice scores and only 1(2.22%) fall in poor category. The pre-test results revealed that, there is a positive correlation between the variables i.e. knowledge and practice. Probability values of X2 contingency table revealed that the gain in knowledge & practice scores and socio demographic variables are independent. This means that gain in knowledge & practice scores has nothing to do with socio demographic variables of staff nurses. The study findings concluded that SIM on chest physiotherapy is effective in improving the knowledge and practices of nurses. The study also revealed that there is positive correlation between the knowledge and practices of nurses regarding chest physiotherapy.
