Diabetes is a chronic disorder and not a disease of opulent in India. It is estimated that prevalence of diabetes in India will be two-fold globally from 2000 to 2030. The associated risk factors are obesity, hypertension, age, change of lifestyle and so many. The obesity is main risk factor for the diabetes due to the intake of junk food or eating food with high glycemic index and no physical activity which contribute to the fat deposition in the body leading to accumulation of fat in the blood-stream thus, increasing the blood glucose level in the body. Maintaining the diabetic registries in India will give an idea about the distribution of disease and number of patients affected every year in every part of India. National undertaking programs are urgently needed for the early knowledge, detection and diagnosis, diseases management and primary prevention of diabetes. This review aims to highlight the emerging trends in the prevalence of diabetes and their associated risk factors in India..

Introduction: According to the International Diabetes Federation, currently 39.5 million people in India have pre diabetes, and of them 7 million will develop diabetes every year. The number of diabetic people in India is expected to increase from 51 million in 2010 to 87 million in 2030.1 India being the diabetes capital of the world; every 5th diabetic is an Indian in the world. But the real impact of diabetes is through cardiovascular disease and hypertension.2 Objective: The present study was carried out with the objective to study the prevalence of diabetes and hypertension among individuals 20 years. and above in Urban slums of Delhi. Material and Method: A community based cross sectional study among 740 individuals 20 yrs. and above selected by systematic random sampling method was conducted in Delhi from January to December 2012. Data was collected using predesigned, pretested, semi structured questionnaire after taking written informed consent data was analyzed using SPSS version 17. Chi-square/ Fisher’s Exact test were used for qualitative variables to find association and p-value males, 177 (47.3%) and females, 188 (51.4%) belonged to upper lower socio-economic status according to modified Kuppuswamy classification 2012. Out of 740 study subjects, overall prevalence of diabetes and hypertension was found to be 12.6% and 23.7% respectively.

Objective: The main aim of the study is to inspect specific state of the disease – Diabetes Mellitus by screening Glycated Hemoglobin, Fasting plasma glucose and spectrum of complications. Study Design: An Observational study carried out for 6 months (October 2018-March 2019) in 688 diabetic patients. Results: Glycated hemoglobin is ≤ 6.9% in 14% of total patients and 86% of the patients are having ≥ 7%, 15% of total 688 diabetic patients are maintaining fasting plasma glucose levels ≤ 108 mg/dl. Conclusion: An abnormal maintainance of glycemic levels is responsible for the development of diabetic complications. Diabetic educators and clinical pharmacist interventions can reduce glycemic levels along with the physician aided pharmacological treatment. Proper central and local management interventions and combined efforts from all the stakeholders of the the general public is a requisite to trim down the disease burden that diabetes creates in India.

The co-morbid diabetic-tuberculosis (DM-TB) patients are often encountered in the clinics. Both the diseases complicate each other at many levels. The idea of the current observational study is to find out the incidence of DM in newly diagnosed TB patients among a study group of 396 patients in Hindu non[1]tribal and Muslim, low to middle socio economic strata group. And also to review the literature and future strategies to combat such co–morbid conditions
