The complete edentulism is most often witnessed among geriatric age group undergoing changes associated
with ageing. One of the commonest issues of concern among such patients as well as the Prosthodontists is
continuous loss of alveolar bone and its consequences. Making an impression of such resorbed ridges is often very
troublesome to the dentist as the tissues become unsupported and displaceable thereby, jeopardising the success
of the prosthesis. The key to such cases is to record the supporting tissue in its resting state while maintaining its
integrity. This clinical case report presents a case of severely resorbed ridge managed using the cocktail impression
technique to improve mandibular denture stability in an atrophic mandibular ridge.

The novel COVID-19 pandemic is rapidly evolving with increase in the statistics on a daily basis and the dental
colleges in India are reeling from the repercussion of the pandemic. It is important that the dental students and
faculty remain aware about the updated regulations and guidelines released by the international and national
authorities. However, reviewing the literature, there is no official information that exists for dental institutions to
ensure continuity of dental education by effectively following the recommended guidelines including 'shelter in
place' to safeguard students, staff and patients with social distancing. And also, little research has been published
on the potential impacts of COVID-19 pandemic on dental education, but it is an inescapable phenomenon that
can have a drastic impact on how the future dentists are educated. It may represent an enduring transformation
in dentistry with the advancement encouraging innovation and imagination. Hence, the article talks about the
challenges which we face currently and gives some simple strategies to connect the gaps in dental education at
present to overcome this emergency.

The abuse of alcohol is on the rise and has been found to be associated with numerous systemic diseases. In
addition to this, alcohol has been implicated in adversely affecting the oral cavity and can cause salivary gland
diseases, oral cancer, potentially malignant disorders of the oral cavity, dental caries, erosion of teeth, periodontitis
and oral mucosal alterations. This review focuses on the oral implications of chronic and excessive alcohol
consumption.

Context: Dental professionals are at increased risk of acquiring viral hepatitis (VH) infections as they are
predisposed to occupational exposure to infectious fluids while performing various dental processes. The risk can
be minimized by creating awareness about preventive measures. Thus training of early-age dental professionals
on management of viral hepatitis is needed.
Aims: The study aims at assessing the effectiveness of one day training on viral hepatitis among dental
professionals.
Settings and Design: Study setting was Project PRAKASH, Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences, New Delhi and
Design was Pre-post design.
Methods and Material: A one-day training program titled ‘Viral Hepatitis in Dentistry’ was conducted among
early-age dental professionals. The participants were provided with one-day training on VH with each session
ranging from 45–60 minutes. An online link for Pre-post knowledge assessment consisting ten questions was
shared with all registered participants before and after training. One mark was allotted for each correct response.
Statistical analysis used: The data was analysed using IBM-SPSS version-21. Independent samples t-test was
used to assess the mean knowledge score across various demographic factors and the paired t-test was used to
assess the improvement in knowledge post training. The statistical significance was considered at 0.05.
Results: A total of 253 dental professionals with mean age of 24.9+5.6 were trained across six states of India.
The pre-test score and post score were 4.7+2.1 and 7.2+1.8 respectively with maximum score being 10. The mean
improvement in knowledge score was found to be statistically significant.
Conclusions: Overall, study observed significant improvement of knowledge among dental professionals and
this training on VH can help in increasing the knowledge about necessary preventive measures to prevent VH
among dental professionals.
