Root fracture is one of the detrimental fracture which results after impingement of high force upon the root. This has detrimental consequences for the tooth and its supporting structure. Horizontal root fractures are the most common type and occur mainly in the maxillary incisors. Prognosis of coronal third root fracture is less favourable because of the difficulty in immobilizing the tooth. For a successful outcome, an appropriate diagnosis of a fractured tooth in its most primitive possible stage encourages more conservative management options as well as an improved prognosis. This case report illustrates a novel treatment option for management of communited horizontal cervical root fracture in left maxillary central incisor. In contemporary modern era, the introduction and readiness of biocompatible materials like biodentine and proper understanding of the biological concepts of root fractures help in better prognosis of root fracture. Biodentine appears to be an improvement over other materials for some endodontic procedures that involve root repair and bone healing.

Currently many bonding gents are available. Composition of the bonding agent is very important to understand the properties, usage, technique and functions of these agents. Bonding agents are more important than the type of composite we are using for the restoration, as this will affect the longevity of the restoration. This article reviews the composition of currently available bonding agents.

LASER is an acronym of Light Amplification by the Stimulated Emission of Radiation. Since 1960s, When Maiman used it for the first time in dentistry, laser have evolved their way in the field, where they are been used for several procedures like caries removal, cavity preparations, dental hypersensitivity treatment, etching, composite polymerization, bleaching, canal sterilization, soft tissue and apical surgeries. With these applications, lasers also presents certain advantages like, minimized bleeding yielding good visibility, decreased swelling and postoperative pain, accelerated healing, controlled collateral damage, reduced need for anesthesia. In recent years, with improved understanding of laser-tissue interactions and advancements in technology, laser have spread their applications from diagnosis to preventive procedures, making them an efficient and valuable tool for dental surgeon in near future.

The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD) recognizes that providing both primary and comprehensive preventive and therapeutic oral health care to individuals with special health care needs (SHCN)
is an integral part of the specialty of pediatric dentistry. Dental care is the most common unmet need in the special needs population. Children with special needs require utmost care twice as likely than their aged matched peer who are normal. Hence, through this manuscript we try to focus on the need to provide special oral healthcare to children with special needs.

Background: Facial esthetics is one the factor affecting personal confidence in a social community. Facial indices are essential to obtain a facial aesthetic in Orthodontic treatment. Aim: This study assess facial dimensions and types of facial characteristic among dental students through an Anthropometric study. Materials and Methods: This crosssectional study was done on 291 students with a mean age of 17-23 years. The measurements of facial diameters determined by using Martin Saller Cephalometer with an accuracy of 0.5 mm. According to the sex, the facial index estimated, and statistical analyses by using a t-test were carried out. Results: The mean Facial index found as 83.4 ±
9.2 in males and 80.0 ± 8.6 in females. The most dominant type of face shape in males was Mesoproscopic (51.3 %), followed by Hypereuryproscopic (18.2%). In females, the dominant type of face was Hypereuryproscopic (36.3%), followed by Mesoprosopic (28.6%). Conclusion: There were variations in the face index between males and females; further study with a large sample size recommended among dental students.

Context: Need for a more in depth understanding of the knowledge, attitude and practices of caregivers with respect to their children’s oral health care is of paramount importance.
Aims:
• To assess the knowledge of parents about the dental problems of children.
• To determine the parental attitude towards children’s oral health and treatment of pulpally involved deciduous
teeth.
• To find out the oral health care practices undertaken by parents for their children.
Settings and Design: This cross sectional study was conducted in the Department of Pedodontics and Preventive Dentistry, Government Dental College, Kottayam. Material: Parents of children below 12 years reporting to the Department were the study participants. The structured questionnaire consisted of sociodemographic characteristics and questions related to knowledge, attitude and practices towards children’s oral health was distributed to the participants. Responses were tabulated and were expressed as frequency distributions. Statistical analysis used: Chisquare test was used to find the association between knowledge, attitude, practice and baseline characteristics. Results: Out of 400 participants 73.8%, 68.5%, 89.5% had good knowledge, attitude and practice respectively about oral health maintenance and pulp therapy of deciduous teeth. There is statistically significant association between knowledge and parental status, education, occupation and family income, attitude and family income. Association between practice and number of children also is statistically significant. Conclusions: Create more awareness among
the populace of our country about significance of healthy primary dentition and the ensuing sequelae of not doing so.
