Systemic sclerosis is a connective tissue disorder with a variety of oral manifestations. This case reports we make an attempt to correlate oral and systemic findings that enable the clinician for a better diagnosis and to make a treatment plan. After obtaining the patient’s informed consent, relevant medical history and oral manifestations were recorded. The oral changes included restricted mouth opening and widening of periodontal ligament space radiographically and resorption of the mandible. Patients with systemic sclerosis often show wide range of oral manifestations, which is of major concern for the dentist.

The displaceable denture bearing tissues or flabby ridges is a common finding in edentulous patients. A careful consideration and application of the principles of complete denture construction for such condition can provide a palliative form of treatment. Choice of treatment modality is made by keeping in mind that the requirement of stability and retention of the prosthesis should be balanced along with the preservation of the health of oral tissues for every patient.

Plummer–Vinson syndrome is a disease characterized by iron-deficiency anemia, difficulty in swallowing, glossitis, cheilosis and esophageal webs.1 Treatment with iron supplementation and mechanical widening of the esophagus generally provides an excellent outcome.

Vital tooth bleaching is a valuable treatment modality that can significantly change the color and appearance of teeth. Patient satisfaction has been demonstrated after use of professionally dispensed bleaching treatment. Based on the clinical results reported with professional vital tooth bleaching, it is a viable, aesthetic treatment for the discolored hideous dentition. Its conservative nature and little, if any, risk makes it an important part of an aesthetic dentistry treatment. This case report presents two cases in which bleaching was done using Whiteness HP Maxx. Regular follow up of after a period of 4 weeks showed significant reduction of discoloration in teeth.

Cancrum oris is an orofacial gangrene, which causes destruction of the infected tissues which destroys the soft and hard tissues of the oral and para-oral structures. The disease mainly occurs in children having malnutrition, poor oral hygiene and debilitating illness. Noma requires infection by a consortium of microorganisms, with Fusobacterium necrophorum and Prevotella intermedia as the suspected key players. Without appropriate treatment, the mortality rate from noma is 70–90%.

Introduction: Knowing treatment needs of the patient is important for the Dentist. Loss of teeth results in significant disabilities which profoundly disturbs functions of stomatognathic system, as mastication, phonetics and esthetics. Aim and objectives: This survey was conducted to determine the treatment needs of the patients in Prosthodontics. Materials and method: 500 subjects above 20 years in 2 months. Results: In different genders and ages according to education levels people are aware of needs and their options. Discussion: Older people make extensive use of medical facilities but they underuse dental facilities. Mastication is the prime concern. Conclusion: There is a high unmet need of Prosthodontic treatment among populations. The patients’ expectations can be sought, suitable treatment planned and executed.

Study background: Anthropometric measurements, especially craniofacial measurements, are essential for determining various head and face shapes. These anthropometric studies are conducted on age, sex, and racial/ ethnic groups in specific geographical zones. Objectives: This study aimed to assess the cephalic indices, to classify the type of cranium, and to determine the relationship between the horizontal cephalic index and cranial parameters among dental students. Method: This is a descriptive and cross-sectional study on 143 dental students (73 males and 70 females) with an age range of 18–23 year-old. Head length, head breadth measured by using a standard spreading caliper. Then cephalic indices were calculated for the classification of cranial type. All the collected data were summarized using statistical package for social sciences (SPSS) 21.0 versions, and their significance was tested by student t test. Results: The results of this study showed that the mean of the horizontal, cephalic index in male and female were 17.55 ± 0.92 and 16.54 ± 1.53 cm, respectively. The cephalic index varied from the range of 69.8 to 94.7 in male and 68.5% to 94.4% in the female. The dominant type of head shape in our study was Hyperbrachycephalic (36.8%, followed by brachycephalic (24.6%) in male and brachycephalic (16.7%) followed by mesocephalic (12.5%) respectively. Conclusion: The data of the present study can be beneficial in craniofacial reconstruction, clinical diagnosis, and Forensic applications.

Introduction: Knowledge of dental treatment and awareness is a big issue. Aim and objectives: to assess awareness and edentulism in population. Material and methods: 500 subjects above 20 years were target. Results: few people are knowing of problems due to tooth loss while majority remains neglected. Discussion: people are aware by different sources about dental treatment and options. Conclusion: oral health education needs to be imparted to society.

Introduction: Oral health is an integral component in the general health of an individual and has become a significant public health issue with a substantial social impact. It is essential to evaluate three domains related to oral health at the population level, namely knowledge, attitude, and practice. Objective: To assess the level and aspects of knowledge, attitudes, and practice of oral health amongst Pilgrims Visiting Tirumala (Tirupati). Methodology: A descriptive crosssectional study using the English language version of Hiroshima University-Dental Behavioral Inventory (HU-DBI) which was modified to 28 questions and distributed to 300 pilgrims out of whom 279 replied. Pre-tested structured open-ended questionnaires were self-administered to investigate by means their knowledge, attitude, and practice towards oral hygiene. According to the responses of questionnaires, the data analyzed by using Statistical Software package (SPSS version 21.0), and statistical significance was set at p < 0.05. Results: A total of 279 pilgrims included in the study; 65.5% (n = 183) males and 34.4% (n = 96) females, among the study group, 45.8% reported brushing their teeth twice daily using a toothbrush and toothpaste. The majority of respondents, 77% (n = 215) reported visiting the Dentist only when experiencing pain. The most common reasons for not visiting the Dentist were fear 51.2% (n = 143) and high cost 48.7% (n = 136). Conclusion: This study revealed that the overall understanding of oral health behaviors among the Pilgrims was good, although there were shortages in their insight in a few areas.
