Desmoplastic Fibroma is a rare Mandibular tumour, only a few cases have been reported in the literature. It is a locally aggressive tumour with a high rate of local recurrence if not completely excised. A 21 yr old male consulted our department with a six month history of slowly growing swelling left mandible. He also had a complaint of complete numbness of the left lower lip and chin. He had a large radiolucent lesion on the left angle and ramus of the mandible measuring 100x 80 mm in dimension. Further investigations included biopsy and CT scans.
It was a solid fibrous tumour perforating the cortical plates. Histopathological examination confirmed Desmoplastic Fibroma. He had resection of the tumour by hemimandibulectomy and resection of the left condyle. It was reconstructed with a left fibula graft and temporomandibular prosthesis.

Traumatic or irritation fibroma is a common benign exophytic oral lesion that develops secondary to tissue injury. It is the most common benign reactive oral lesion, and the treatment of choice is surgical excision. The use of laser in different dental procedures has become very common in the last few years. In periodontal surgeries, it use is usually associated with no or little pain and better post operative results. This report describes a case of 24 year old male with oral fibroma in the lower left labial mucosa.This lesion was removed by using diode laser. The healing was uneventful and no suture, periodontal pack or analgesics were required. The histopathological report confirmed the presurgical diagnosis. The follow up didn’t demonstrate any relapse of the growth.

Odontomas are the most common odontogenic tumours. They are the malformations of dental tissues and may interfere with the eruption of tooth. Morphologically odontomas can be classified as complex, when present as irregular masses containing different types of dental tissues, or as compound if there is superficial anatomic similarity to even rudimentary teeth – the denticles. Odontomas are non-aggressive, usually asymptomatic, remain small and often discovered during routine radiography in the first two decades of life, with a mean age at the time of diagnosis is 14 years. Occasionally it does become large and may produce expansion of bone with consequent facial asymmetry. Complex odontomas are less frequently found as compared to the compound odontomas in the ratio 1:2 and they are considered to be hamartomatous malformations rather than true neoplasms.
Here we report a case of complex composite odontoma in the right posterior mandible of an 8 year old boy causing dislocation of the erupting tooth in that area.

Microdontia is hypotrophied sizes of teeth. This condition may be the result of allelic mutations at  single gene locus. Alternatively, incompletely penetrant non-allelic genes may show a synergistic effect as expected for a multifactorial trait with interacting gene products. This and similar kindreds may allow identification of genes involved in growth.

This review article was intended to assimilate the existing evidence for low level laser therapy (LLLT) in people with orthodontic pain through an evidence-informed search of literature in PubMed.The existing evidence included one systematic review and nine clinical trials, conducted on a total 332 orthodontic patients and 159 healthy volunteers who were given intra-oral appliances such as elastomeric separators, archwires and minibrackets and were administered LLLT for both short-term and long-term. The limited evidence thus favors the use of LLLT to reduce procedural orthodontic pain in terms of intensity, shortening the pain episode, and higher incidence of complete absence of pain.

 Evolving is an ongoing process that replaces what is existing gradually to something better. With this rapid development in the field of Nanotechnology it won’t be wrong if we call it as, Nano Era. Nanotechnology and its application in dentistry have improved the diagnosis, treatment, prognosis and prevention of the dental diseases. It utilizes nanomaterials, nanobiotechnology and nanorobots for the treatment and maintenance of oral health. The purpose of this paper is to review the phenomenon of nonotechnology as it might apply to dentistry as a new field called nanodentistry.

Dental journals provide timely, reliable and useful information on scientific communication and technical professional information for dentists. The objective of this editorial was to provide an insight into the role of dental journals in the process of publication and dissemination in evidence-based dentistry. Numerous dental journals existed and their numbers are ever-growing, their substantial contribution to evidence-based dentistry was demonstrated to be influenced by their editorial and publication policies, ethical guidelines, and authorship criteria, structured versus unstructured abstracts, quality of published abstracts, systematic reviews and randomized controlled trials, statistical methodological reporting, referencing accuracy and explicit reporting of conflicts of interest.
