 The purpose of this study was to compare the sealing ability of root canal filling by using 0.02 or 0.06 tapered gutta-percha master cones. Fifty six extracted single-root human premolars were selected and canals were prepared by RaCe 0.06 tapered rotary instruments. They were randomly divided into two experimental groups of 23 teeth in each and two control groups of 5 teeth in each. Then, canals were obturated with lateral condensation technique by using two different master points: a 0.06 tapered guttapercha (group A) and standardized (0.02) points (group B). Apical sealing ability in each group was evaluated by linear dye penetration method. Dye penetration was significantly greater in group A than group B. It was concluded that root canal filling with 0.02 tapered master points may be superior to 0.06 points.

Biological systems represent millions of years of trial-and-error learning through natural selection according to the most stringent of metrics:survival. ‘Biomimetics’ may be defined as the practice of ‘reverse engineering’ ideas and concepts from nature and implementing them in a field of technology. This reverse engineering has recently attracted significant research due to an increasing realisation that many of the problems faced by engineers are similar to those already solved by nature.

BeeFill system is a new thermoplasticized obturation technique. The aim of this study was to compare the apical seal of canals obturated by this system comparing with cold lateral condensation technique by using fluid filtration method. Sixty freshly extracted human premolars with single canal were selected. Canals prepared by step back technique. In group A, 20 canals obturated with lateral condensation technique and AH26 sealer whereas in group B, 20 canals were obturated by using BeeFill system and AH26 sealer. After the evaluation of the apical seal by fluid filtration method, the results showed that apical seal in group B was better than group A with no significant difference.

Purpose of this study was to identify the perceived sources of stress among undergraduate students of medical, dental, and allied sciences, Bhopal city, India. A cross sectional study was conducted on a sample of 3473 students. Modified version of dental environment stress questionnaire was used to collect data. Anova, student t-test, chi-square test, and spearman’s correlation coefficient were used for data analysis. Higher stress levels were reported by medical students. Students of medical, dental, and allied sciences are at the risk for harmful consequences of stress, which may be explained by an underlying towards perfectionism with other pressures.

Traumatic crown fractures which are caused from dental injuries are a serious dental public health problem. Coronal fractures of permanent incisors represent 18-22% of all traumas to dental hard tissues, 28-44% being simple (enamel +dentin) and 11-15% complex (enamel +dentin +pulp). Of these 96% involve maxillary central incisors. The reattachment of the crown fragment to the fractured tooth is the best method to reinstate natural shape, contour, surface texture, occlusal alignment and color of the fragment. This article addresses the treatment regimen of a horizontal crown fracture of maxillary central incisor at cervical level that offers simplicity, esthetics and conservation in cases of dental trauma.

A relevantly trained, multi-skilled public health workforce is the key to the development, improvement and efficient functioning of comprehensive public health systems. In many developing countries, including India, oral health services suffer from serious constraints regarding the accessibility for all and lack of a community oriented approach. This review has been specially compiled from the workforce developmental strategies of the various nations across the world to enable analysis of the manpower development techniques in the various developed and developing nations to enable formulation of guidelines in the emerging countries based on their needs and resources to provide adequate access to oral health care.
