Mootrashmari (Urolithiasis) is considered among the Ashtamahagadas disorder of Mutravahasrotas where both medicinal and surgical treatment are advised..It is a common malady and can occuranywhere within the urinary tract. Prevalence of Urolithiasis is increasing in the society day by day due to high proteineceous, salty diet and less exercise. In this case report a 45 years old male patient of Mootrashmari visited in Shalya OPD with complaints of severe pain in loin region associated with nausea and vomiting. USG findings showed presence of stone (8.6 x 4.5 mm) in left lower ureter along with moderate hydronephrosis and hydroureter. So this case was diagnosed as Mootrashmari (ureteric calculus) and was successfully treated with Gokshurachurna (5 gm), Banga Bhasma (60 mg) and Purnarnavashhtakakwatha (20 ml) which were given twice daily to the patient. After 3 months of above treatment stone was completely stopped without any complication. Hence, case study concluded that Mootrashmari is well treated with Ayurvedic medicines.

Kashyap samhita mainly dealt with paediatric as well as gynaecological health & its related issues. Kashyap mentioned one whole chapter on two drugs i.e. Shatapuspa and Shatavari and discussed the qualities, form, indications, dosages & duration which signifies the importance of single drug therapy with high end results if properly used in day today clinical practice. ‘Low cost High effective therapy” is need of the hour using single drugs or least number of drugs. Screening methodology followed & reviewed Critically followed by appropriate discussion. Following appropriate dosage & duration using shatavari & shatapuspa in gynaecological disorders is one of the observable facts for enhanced effect.

Shalyatantra is one among the eight branches of Ayurveda. Susrutaacharya, the master of this branch, briefs every aspects relating to basic principles of surgery in his text – “Susrutasamhita”. Mere theoretical knowledge of the disease is not sufficient to treat the ill, especially for a surgeon and there lies the importance of Sareerastana. Susrutasamhita is considered as the prime text book on “Sareerasthana”, where anatomical descriptions are detailed. Susrutasamhita classified surgical procedures into eight –Astavidha Sastra Karmas – Cchedya, Bhedya, Lekhya, Vedhya, Eshya, Aharya, Visravya and Seevya. Acharya had taken steps like “Yogyasutreeya” for training before being accepted as a “Surgeon”. Only after practical training, Acharya details the indications of these procedures. And an attempt is made to developa innovative surgical models in hands on training based on feasibility.

Abhrak Bhasma (calx of Mica), an unique mineral product and one among the Maharasas of the Rasashastras. Acharyas have mentioned Shataputa and Sahastraputa Abhrak Bhasma which are indeed unique attributes of Abhrak, due to its wide therapeutic utility; it is used in several formulations. Shataputa Abhraka Bhasma used traditionally in the management of Yakshma (Tuberculosis), Prameha (diabetes), Pandu (anemia), Raktapitta (blood dyscrasias), Jwar (fever), Shwasa, Kasa Vikaras (Respiratory disorders), Hrudroga ( Heart Diseases). Etc. was prepared according to the prescription in the Ayurvedic classics and subjected to various bhasma pariksha (tests for calx), including the Namburi Phased Spot Test (NPST), one of the qualitative tests described for various Ayurvedic preparations. NPST helps to differentiate between, and thus identify, various bhasmas (calx). It depends upon the pattern of the spot, which develops after a specific chemical reaction. Shataputa Abhraka Bhasma prepared by classical reference in our department was subjected to above said tests and the results ware compared with standard protocol. The prepared bhasma had shown the nearest results to standard NPST of Shataputa Abhraka Bhasma.

Anatomy is broadly appreciated as being one of the cornerstones of medical education. Learning anatomy through the dissected cadaver is viewed as the uniquely defining feature of medical courses. Explosion of knowledge in the field of medicine was feasible only due to exploration of human body through human cadaver dissection. Acharya Suoeruta is considered as the father of surgery even today, but if we go through the Ayurveda text, essentials of human anatomy are very precisely described by Suoeruta, so Suoeruta should also be considered as the father of human anatomy. Acarya Suuruta has paid great attention towards the structural organization of the human body. This was emphasized to such an extent Âcârya Suúruta has not only mentioned that no surgeon should start his surgical carrier unless he is well aware of human anatomy. He not only stressed on the anatomical locations of various body structures but also has given the detailed description, right from development of various organs, intrauterine life of foetus, month wise development of foetus, nutrition of foetus, maternal health etc. In this topic we will discuss specifically about the dissection techniques in ancient Indian anatomy which were described in very scientific manner by the Acharya Sushruta. Âyurveda has described in detail the dissection methodology, nomenclature of human body parts and clinical anatomy as well. Âyurveda provides the evidence of existence of knowledge of anatomy before the announcement of modern anatomy. Ayurcedic Acharya described various terms, techniques and concepts regarding the human anatomy in the Samhita. Till date, very little is known to the western world about the profound description of the subject present in ancient texts of Indian medicine. The present research article is taken to show eternity of our ancient Indian science.

Background: Timira is one of the Dristigata roga, characterized by the avyakta rupa darshan (blurriness of vision). On the basis of clinical features, it can be compared with Simple myopia or short sightedness, a type of refractive error which affects the vision for distant. It is a common type of myopia which progresses during childhood and adolescence and seldom exceeds 5 to 6 D. Usual treatment for simple myopia is optical correction (spectacles or contact lenses) to restore distant vision. Spectacles are used to correct the error and to prevent the progression of the pathology. Wearing spectacles incorporate the less desirable cosmetic, convenience and optical disadvantages into the daily routine of myopia. Till now no medicine is invented to preserve the sight of patients affected with myopia and no surgical measure can be considered as fully safe and without side effects. In Ayurvedic classics, various treatment modalities like”Kriya kalpas” have been mentioned for the treatment of netra rogas including Timira. Drugs with Chakshushya properties are helpful in the management of timira that pacifies aggregated Doshas and help in visual improvement. The drugs selected for Anjana are Punaranavadi Anjana and Guduchyadi Anjana. Aim: To evaluate the efficacy of Punarnavadi and Guduchyadi Anjana in the management of Prathama Patalagata Timira. Materials and Methods: In this study, the trial drugs used were Punarnavadi and Guduchyadi Anjana. A total 40 patients of Timira were selected from outpatient department and inpatient department of Shalakya Tantra Department and allotted randomly in two groups. Group A- In this group 20 patients treated with Punarnavadi Anjana, and in Group B- 20 patients treated with Guduchyadi Anjana. One vidanga pramana of Anjana is applied from kaninika sandhi to apanga sandhi once daily for 60 days in the evening and follow up for every 15 days. Effect of therapy on chief complaint i.e., blurred vision of Group A was 60% relief, while in Group B 80% relief was found. Conclusion: Both Punarnavadi anjana and Guduchyadi anjana in the treatment of Timira were equally effective and statistically significant. Guduchyadi anjana when compared to Punarnavadi anjana showed better improvement clinically.
