New upsurge of interest in Ayurveda and its rapidly increasing public use has given rise to many newer issues and challenges. One being lack of standardization and there is a need to develop it. Central council of Research in Ayurveda and Siddha (CCRAS) has given preliminary guidelines for standardizing formulations. This present paper reports on standardization of Dooshivishari Agada (DVA), an Ayurveda Herbomineral compound. Ingredients of DVA were procured, authenticated and prepared in classical way by giving bhavana with the qwath prepared by same ingredients of Agada and consequently analysed for Organoleptic, physical characteristics, physiochemical, phytochemical screening, TLC and HPTLC was done for standardization. The phytochemical constituents found to be present in the finished product will possibly facilitate for understanding mechanisms of pharmacological action.

Complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) comprises a number of professional disciplines such as acupuncture, ayurvedic medicine, biofeedback, herbal medicine, and homeopathic medicine. The objective of this short communication was to present an overview of studies analyzing CAM journals found in PubMed. There were studies on Chinese authorship trend, ethical standards, three studies on content analysis and quality of natural product clinical trials in CAM journals, which provided limited preliminary evidence on the role of journals.

 Neonates, infants & early childhood are prone to get skin diseases due to delicate skin and less immunity. Ahiputan is one of the many diseases explained in Ayurvedic classics among children which is considered as Ghora and Dhaarun[1,2] which is caused by frequent stagnated urine, faeces and sweat around the anal region for longer duration, resulting into Sphota with Kandu around the anal region. The similar condition can be seen in diarrhea with anal excoriation and in diaper dermatitis. If it is ignored, lead to wide spread infection by bacteria or fungi necessitating vigorous and prolonged treatment. Study conducted with the age from birth to 03 years infants and toddlers with signs and symptoms of Ahiputan were randomly recruited from IPD and OPD of Kaumarabhritya, KLE’s BMK Ayurveda hospital. Group was intervened with Rasaanjaan Aalep and the patients were applied Rasaanjan Aalep on every stool passage for three days and observed on the basis of two grading criteria viz: 1. On the basis of area affected and 2. Skin color during and after the treatment on 3rd and 5th day respectively. An observation reveals that 68% improvement in skin dimension and 63.33% improvement in skin color between the follow up and after treatment. 87.8% improvement in skin dimension and 97.3% improvement in skin color from the 1st visit to after treatment. Hence the present study concludes that Rasaanjan Aalep is effective in treating the Ahiputan.

Kupeelu (Strychnousnuxvomica Linn) is a spinal poison of vegetable origin which comes under Upavisha[1,2,3,4] (semi-poisonous group). Even though it is a poisonous drug; it possessesabundant therapeutic values,it’s seeds are highly toxic but after adopting proper shodhana (purificatory) procedures it attains medicinal values and can be used in the treatment of many diseases.[5] Accidentally or homicidal or because of misuse of drugs during medication, may lead into so many complications like convulsions, coma etc. and eventually death occurs.[6] In the present study kupeelu seeds were subjected to shodhana sing Gomutra, Godugda and Goghrita and to evaluate itseffect of shodhana on convulsive property of kupeelu by comparing the toxic effects produced byashodhita (unpurified) kupeelu seeds with shodhita (purified) kupeelu seeds in wistar rats. Animals were grouped and one group received ashodhita kupeelu seed powder and another group received shodhita kupeelu seed powder. And they were dosed in a single oral dose of 666mg/kg body weight, following by 24 hrs observations for toxic signs and symptoms pertaining to convulsions. An observation reveals that all the animals of ashodhita group got convulsions fallowed by death of all animals, whereas there is no occurrence of convulsions in all the animals of shodhita group. So shodhita group shows 100% protection against convulsions in albino rats. Hence the present study concludes that by adopting proper shodhana procedure, it reduced the effect of toxicity when compared with ashodhita group.

Ardhavabhedaka is the vishishtha shiroroga of shiras, which has headache as a cardinal feature. Exactly
the swabhava of Ardhavabhedaka cannot be compared to the modern diseases. A near comparison can be given as a unilateral headache. This term has been given under the study of migraine, which is one of the vascular types of headaches having unilateral manifestation with periodical relapses.The lakshanas in Ardhavabhedaka are Toda, Bhrama, Shanka, Bhru, Lalata, Karnashula, Skandagraha, Ghrana srava, Prakashaasahishnuta, Shabda asahishnuta[1], if remain untreated leads to grievous complications like Nayana vinasha, Srotru vinasha.[2] Migraine is characterized by periodic, episodic, throbbing, pulsatile unilateral headache with elementary symptoms like nausea/vomiting/constipation/diarrhea/violent throbbing pain. Pain is located in one/half of the Temporal, Supra-orbital, Frontal, Retro bulbar, Partial, Posterior auricular, Occipital region, Upper or Lower teeth, base of the nose and down as far as tip of the shoulder.[3]
The approach to treatment for Migraine in modern system is the usage of analgesics, systemic treatment, metabolic corrections, refractive error corrections[4], etc. which more or less give temporary relief. So there is need for an optimum therapy which will decrease the intensity, delays the frequency and give longer better relief to the patients. In this connection this study was undertaken to evaluate the comparative effect of Agnikarma in group A and Nasya karma in group B. Agnikarma with Swarna shakakha at lalata pradesha until Samyak dagdhalaxanas were seen was carried out in group A and Nasyakarma for 7 days (8 drops in each nostril) with 7times Avrita ksheerabala taila in group B. Then follow up was done for 3 weeks after the treatment to assessthe results. To assess the efficacy of treatment, the symptoms of Ardhavabhedaka such as Shirashula (Unilateral headache), Avadhi (Duration of attacks), Vega (Frequency of attacks) and Doppler study: of both right and left superficial temporal arteries (systolic and diastolic velocities) were noted carefully before commencement and after completion of the treatment. Results in both groups were analyzed statistically by using Chi-square test, which showed highly significant results with Chi-square value = 8.118 and ‘P’ Value > .001.

People are suffering from Mukhapak mostly the young generation due to busy and stressful life also other factors like irregular timing of diet and sleep, eating spicy and fast food, chewing of tobacco and Gutakhas. Aggravation of tridoshas mainly pitta corrupt the raktadhatu and causes Mukhapak (stomatitis). During the study project detailed study of previous work was done. All available information about materials was collected and studied in detail. For this study sixty patients were selected randomly and divided into two groups: Group A-Trial group & Group B- Control group Group A (trial group): Total number of patients are thirty. They were treated with Tab. Kamdudha systemically and JatyaditailPratisaran (locally). Tab. Kamdudha 500 mg. three times a day for seven days JatyaditailPratisaran 2-3 ml four times a day for seven days Group B (control group): Total number of patients are thirty. They were treated with Tab. Kamdudha systemically. Tab. Kamdudha 500 mg three times a day for seven days. Observations recorded for seven days with alternate day follow up. A special case paper was made for the study in which observations were made in tabular form and effect of Jatyaditail Pratisaran was analysed. According to observation statistical analysis was done. It showed that the above said Jatyaditailpratisaran with Tab. Kamdudha is more effective in Mukhapak and gives better result than Tab. Kamdudha alone.Jatyaditail is tridoshashamak, vranashodhak and vranaropak .JatyaditailPratisaran can be done easily for oral cavity. So it can be routinely used by patients of Mukhapak.
