This handbook provides a thorough overview of pediatric echocardiography, specially curated for pediatric residents and clinicians. It aims to help trainees gain both basic knowledge and advanced interpretation skills in echocardiographic imaging. Starting with the fundamental principles of ultrasound physics and equipment, it guides the reader through probe choice, patient positioning, and optimization of machine settings so that even the most junior trainee develops strong scanning habits from the beginning. Each chapter is organized to offer practical, solution-focused content in a concise and easy-to-understand format.
Despite the technical complexity of echocardiography, the material is presented clearly and simply. The book covers a wide range of cardiac conditions seen in neonates and children, including structural heart defects, functional abnormalities, and hemodynamic evaluations. As an up-to-date and authoritative resource, this handbook meets the needs of pediatric residents, neonatologists, and allied
health professionals. It includes evidence-based practices for performing and interpreting pediatric echocardiograms, along with step-by-step instructions and illustrative diagrams. Emphasis is placed on systematic imaging approaches, standard echocardiographic views, Doppler techniques, and recognition of both common and complex congenital heart diseases. Morphological anomalies, valvular lesions, and chamber abnormalities are thoroughly discussed, supported by echocardiographic images. This book aims to serve both as a preparation tool for exams and as a practical reference for those caring for pediatric cardiac patients. We hope it becomes a valuable resource for students, postgraduate trainees, and practicing pediatricians with a special interest in pediatric cardiology and echocardiography.
