AbstractFor several institutions and organizations, plagiarism and intellectual property rights (IPR) abuses have become a serious concern. There are many opportunities for such violations to become much more common through the revolutionary growth of the Web. The possibility of adopting a 'culture of mediocrity' is generated by this situation. This paper explores these problems and suggests ways of solving the issues through the implementation of feasible technical solutions. New media, especially the Internet, are contributing to an explosion in violations of both plagiarism and IPR.
