Abstract

As per WHO report 2019, the major cause of death around the World is cardiovascular ailments. To be very precise, deposition and subsequent development of plagues around the blood vessels is to be blamed. Plague is made up of mainly lipids and deposition of the same in coronary arteries may lead to myocardial infarction and may end up with heart attack and brain stroke if it gets deposited in the heart and brain respectively, in both the cases prognosis is not favorable. Over the years many attempts, right from statins to monoclonal antibodies has been made to cut down the risk associated with hyperlipedemia and this review will focus the drugs developed for lowering the lipids.
