Shipping is by far the most important mode of transportation for the carriage of cargo. This book is concerned with the economics of this essential mode of transportation. It also gives readers insight into largely concerned with the study of the development of transportation, different modes of transport, the role of ports, port performance, importance of ports, economics of port and port procedure, the role of seaborne trade in economic development, development of Indian shipping, shipping policy and five years plans, chartering and containerization. The book also examines the extensive shipping industry - including tankers, dry cargo, the liner trade and types of ship. It has been organized into 18 chapters. Multiple choice questions carefully selected from University have also been given at the end of book along with the brief hints.
