AbstractThe American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD) recognizes that providing both primary and comprehensive preventive and therapeutic oral health care to individuals with special health care needs (SHCN)
is an integral part of the specialty of pediatric dentistry. Dental care is the most common unmet need in the special needs population. Children with special needs require utmost care twice as likely than their aged matched peer who are normal. Hence, through this manuscript we try to focus on the need to provide special oral healthcare to children with special needs.
